Nikolaj Nielsen af

Do you walk every day and look at the many loose wires that have gradually become entangled and piled up in your electronic setups at home? Then you have come to the right place.

There is an incredibly easy and cheap solution to manage the many wires and cables that are scattered and entangled in both TV setups with DVD players, computer setups, kitchen appliances, etc.

Read on to get a lot of useful information about how you can more easily collect the many wires and cables in your home, and create good order and an easy overview in your electronic setups at home.

Cable hiders - keep the cables out of the way

The best and cheapest way to hide your many cables for TV and other devices is simply using a cable hider.

With cable hiders, cable holders, cable collectors, etc., you get the opportunity to store and collect your cables in an optimal way, which gives your setup a much nicer and cleaner look, and makes it much easier to keep track of which wires go where.

With cable hiders, your electronic setups in the home get a more stylish look and make it easier to keep track of everything.

In addition to hiding your cables and wires, the smart cable covers also protect them from damage, e.g. from vacuum cleaners, pets, curious children, etc.

The price is also usually very low, as most cable hiders are actually incredibly simple in their design and choice of materials.

Get different cable covers

There are a lot of different types of cable hiders, and to make it a little easier, below you will get a quick overview of the different types, as well as what they are good for.

Always remember to research which type of cable hides you need, as they each do something different that makes them suitable for certain setups.

Read more about the different types of cable hiders and holders below:

  • Cable tray in aluminum or plastic - Cable trays in plastic or aluminum are a kind of rail where you can store various cables and wires behind. This type of cable cover is primarily used along a wall either down by the moldings at floor level, or vertically along the wall and up behind a television, radio or similar that hangs on the wall. The cable tray collects your cables and camouflages them against the wall so that they don't lie around and look useless.
  • Cable Duct - A cable duct is very similar to a cable tray, but instead is a bit more extensive. With most cable ducts, you can put together the length yourself and how many sides must be covered.
  • Cable tie - It is probably very obvious in the name, and yes a cable tie is just a tool for tying various cables together. These cable ties are equipped with a small Velcro strip which makes it easy to open and close them without problems. Cable ties are very popular in large companies and offices where there is a constant need to tie cables together, as they can be bought in large rolls of up to 25 metres.
  • Cable socks - A cable sock is a kind of mixture of a cable tie and a cable tray. You get the same mobility as with cable ties, but your wires will also be completely protected by the stocking. The stocking is equipped with velcro so you can freely add and remove cables and wires continuously.
  • Cable holder - Cable holders are often used to keep track of cables that lie along the wall or along furniture. These holders are attached and can then hold onto a wire or cable that passes through various rooms. They are most often used for cables that are located on site out of harm's way, as their sole purpose is to hold the cable in place.
  • Strips - Yes, strips can be said to be a kind of universal solution, and they can simply be used for an unimaginable number of things. Any electrician will probably tell you that strips are the best tool, and this applies especially to keeping track of the cables. With the faithful strips you can freely assemble your cables, however they can only be used once and are therefore often replaced by the other more reusable solutions.
  • Cable numbering - As a small extra addition to various cable hiders you can get smart cable numbering. This makes it possible to keep track of cables in very large setups where it can be difficult to keep an overview.

Cable assembly for TV that hangs on the wall

If you have a TV set-up where your TV hangs on a TV mount on the wall, you should choose the right cable collector to keep track of the cables.

This is especially important for wall installations, as the cables otherwise hang very inappropriately under your TV.

Instead of a long series of cables hanging down from your TV on the wall, with a cable collector you can get them all together in one area, so that only one single cable hangs down below your TV.

This gives your TV setup a much better look, and also makes it much easier to change cables in the future, as they don't get tangled.

When you want to change a cable, you can simply open your cable collector, find the right cable and disconnect it from your TV and DVD player, or other device it is connected to.

Alternative solution - Build the wiring into the wall

If you want to hide your cables and wires completely away, there is hardly a better way to do it than to build them into the wall of your home.

However, this has some advantages and disadvantages that you should consider carefully before you start.

It has to be said to be the best way to store cables as they are literally completely hidden apart from the small hole they come out of to connect to your devices in the home.

However, you must be aware that it is not easy to change an installation in the wall, and it often requires outside help, which is hardly cheap.

This type of setup is typically used by people who are absolutely certain that their various devices must be in the same place all the time.

This therefore particularly applies to TVs, kitchen appliances, radio systems and all other permanent devices you could imagine in the home.

Always be absolutely sure that you have chosen the right position before carrying out a setup with cables and wires in your wall.

The advantage of cable hiders is precisely that they can be easily moved and moved around your home, but unlike a set-up in the wall, they are not completely hidden, but very close.

Cables can also be hidden a bit by using a TV wall bracket, which typically sits incredibly close to the wall.
