Cable Collector - Keep Your Cables Organized
Here on the page, you will find our selection of cable collectors that can help you keep the cables from your electronic devices or on your desk organized.
If you are tired of the cables from, for example, your computer, monitor, and printer being messy on your desk, getting tangled up with each other, or just being too visible, then a cable collector can be the solution to take control of the cable mess.
No matter the size of your cables, whether they are thin and short cables for smartphones, or thick and longer cables for computers, etc., it is possible to find cable collectors for the purpose.
If you are in doubt about what a cable collector can do for you or which cable collector to choose, you can read below, where we have gathered some useful information.
7 Things You Should Know When Looking for a Cable Collector
Cable collectors come in various models, sizes, and lengths, and can be used for almost all types of cables.
Below we have gathered some information that can help you find the right cable collector for your needs.
#1 - Cable Collector for Many Purposes
The main purpose of a cable collector is to keep cables together so they don't lie all over the floor or down the wall, for example, behind the television or computer.
You probably know the situation where you actually took your time to neatly roll up the charging cable for your smartphone before putting it in a small pocket in your bag, but it still looks like a big knot when you take it out again, and you have to spend time untangling it.
A cable collector designed for small thin cables can help keep the wire in place when you have folded it together, and in that way, you can avoid the annoying situation with cable mess, which only gets worse if you have multiple cables.
Cable collectors can also be used for larger cables and in more permanent locations, such as behind the television.
If you have a wall-mounted TV where power cables, cables for a game console, and HDMI cables are routed, it can quickly look messy when these cables hang and dangle down the wall crossing each other.
Here, a cable collector can make the appearance neater by gathering all the cables in one holder, and possibly a cable collector in the same color as the wall, so it becomes more discreet than, for example, black cables down a white wall.
Cable collectors can thus be used for a wide range of purposes, whether it's about making something look nicer or for more practical reasons.
#2 - Cable Collector in Different Designs
Cable collectors come in many different designs, where some are spiral-shaped and hold the wires in place inside the spiral, while others are made of plastic mesh that wraps around the cables.
The advantage of spiral-shaped cable collectors is that they can often be used for different cable thicknesses or different numbers of cables.
Cable collectors in mesh or flex material are a bit more rigid in size and cannot be expanded so much, but can also be found in different thicknesses.
Other cable collectors are square and divided into channels, so each cable lies in its own channel, which can be an advantage if the cables generate heat or shouldn't interfere with each other's signals.
The square cable collectors are often heavier at the bottom so they can lie flat on the floor, and the weight means they don't risk twisting or turning away from the floor.
Cable collectors are also available in different colors such as:
- black
- gray
- white
- silver/alu
#3 - Cable Collector with Tool
Some cable collectors come with an included piece of tool that helps to neatly place the cables inside the cable collector.
This is often seen in connection with spiral-shaped cable collectors, where it can be quite challenging to get the cables placed inside the cable collector while simultaneously keeping the spiral open.
The tool works by you inserting the cable into the flat end and then guiding both the tool and the cables through the spiral.
In this way, the cables can be laid easily and neatly inside the cable collector.
#4 - Cable Collector in Different Lengths
Cable collectors come in many different lengths, some cable collectors are available in lengths of up to 20 meters and can be adjusted by cutting the cable collector to the desired length.
Cable collectors can also come in lengths of down to 0.5 meters, which is often used for smartphone cables, which are not that long.
Especially the spiral-shaped cable collectors can advantageously be bought longer than you need, so you can cut the spiral to the size you require, allowing you to use the rest another time when you need an extra short piece of cable collector.
However, other models are not as suitable for shortening, such as cable collectors in mesh or flexwrap, which are often closed with a zipper or Velcro.
#5 - Cable Collector in Different Thicknesses
When you need to find a cable collector, it is important to pay attention to how thick the cables are, or how many cables it can hold.
To find the optimal thickness, you can measure the total circumference of the cable or cables that need to be placed in the cable collector and use this circumference as a starting point.
In relation to square and more rigid cable collectors, it is often the number of wires that determines the thickness of the cable collector, where there is often space for 4 or 6 cables.
Spiral-shaped cable collectors can often be used for different thicknesses of cables and various numbers of cables, so the same cable collector can handle both a circumference of 15 mm and a circumference of 25 mm.
However, the maximum total circumference of the cables must often not exceed 25 mm if the cables are still to be neatly placed in the cable collector.
#6 - Cable Collector with Velcro
Some cable collectors are closed around the cables using a Velcro closure.
This type of closure is often seen on flexwrap cable collectors, providing a slight flexibility regarding the overall circumference of the cables.
Here, you can run two slightly thinner cables through and then tighten the cable collector firmly around them to fit snugly, or with multiple cables, you can gather the Velcro a bit further out, making room for one or two more cables.
The Velcro also ensures that none of the cables can sneak out of the cable collector, which can sometimes happen with the spiral version.
The cable collector can be both shortened and lengthened, where for shortening you simply cut to the desired length, and for lengthening, you can just add another Velcro cable collector.
#7 - Cable Collector with Zipper
A cable collector with a zipper is very easy to install, as you just lay the cables on the cable collector and zip it around them.
Cable collectors with zippers are often better suited for slightly thicker cables and can handle a total circumference of up to 50 mm.
It is a simple and neat solution if you have many smaller cables to gather or need to handle large cables.
This model is not suitable for shortening.
