Find the mat for your office or gaming chair here

Here on the page you will find our large selection of different mats for your office and gaming chair.

There can be many good reasons why you should invest in a mat for your chair; whether you rent your home and want to ensure that you get your deposit back, if you want to make it easier for you to move around, or minimize the noise when you move around in your chair.

Even the best office and gaming chairs can risk damaging your floor with their wheels.

Wooden floors, tiled floors, and linoleum floors can all risk getting scratches and, in the worst case, permanent damage.

Carpets can risk getting caught in the chair's wheels, but also becoming deformed, especially if both the desk and chair end up in the same spot.

3 things to consider when looking at chair mats for office chairs

A mat, also called a chair mat, is often flat and made of plastic or similar material, which lies under the chair, thereby protecting wooden floors or carpets.

They are shaped to be placed up against or under your desk or workstation, so you can roll around in your chair without worrying about damaging your floor or making noise.

There are also mats that fit your carpet, as they are equipped with gripping hooks or spikes that gently cling to your carpet to keep them in place.

Hard floors, such as wood, linoleum, or tiles, can easily use mats with smooth undersides, and they will still be just as well protected against scratches and wear that normally occurs during use.

When you need to buy a mat for your office chair, you should first and foremost ensure that the size matches your workspace.

In addition to this, you should also consider what type of floor you have, the shape of the mat you need, and much more.

#1 - Different types of mats

Mats are specifically designed to protect your floor, whether it is carpet or not, from the wheels of office and gaming chairs when you move around in them.

When you move around in your chair, you will inevitably leave small marks and scratches on your floor from the wheels.

Therefore, one of the best ways to protect your floor and carpet from such wear and tear is to invest in a mat; this way, you protect your floor while also moving more easily around your workspace.

There are several different types of mats on the market, and it greatly depends on what type of floor you have.

Mats with spikes

Mats with spikes, also known as anchor mats, are a type of mat specifically made for carpets.

They have built-in gripping hooks or textured surfaces, so they do not slide on your floor but instead stay securely in place, allowing you to easily and safely move around on the mat.

Typically, these types of mats are made of vinyl, which makes them easy to clean, and come in several different thicknesses, depending on what you find most comfortable and what fits best in your home.

Anti-static mats

Anti-static mats can be very similar to mats with spikes, but they have the additional feature of protecting against static electricity buildup.

Much like mats with non-slip features, such as spikes and gripping hooks, this type of mat also has a good grip due to their textured surface.

Anti-static mats are very useful when working with electronic devices, such as if you are fixing your computer.

Mats for hard surfaces

Office buildings can often be busy environments, and there can be a lot of movement back and forth; this also means that the floors in office buildings tend to get more damaged and marked by office chairs.

This is especially true if the office floor is made of hard material such as wood, linoleum, and tiles, or similar materials.

This type of mat is made for these hard surfaces, and is therefore made out of heavy-duty vinyl, which easily absorbs the pressure created by the chair's wheels.

At the same time, it also has a smooth low-friction surface that you are allowed to roll around on.

#2 - The material of the mat

You can find mats made of many different types of materials, which include for example polycarbonate, PVC, glass, plastic, and rubber, and even bamboo.

There is a difference in the materials, and it therefore depends on what you are looking for.

#1 - Durability

In many cases, glass surpasses the other materials in durability; this type of mat is made of tempered glass, which is several times stronger than regular glass.

Therefore, glass mats are not easily broken; often you can expect that, with proper maintenance, your glass mat can last up to 10-15 years, where many of the other materials have a general lifespan of around 3-4 years.

Mats made of polycarbonate are also often more resistant than regular plastic and PVC mats.

Polycarbonate often lasts longer than PVC and bamboo mats, but they are still not as durable as tempered glass mats.

#2 - Price

If price is a major factor in which material you choose, you will often find that polycarbonate, bamboo, rubber, and regular plastic mats are often cheaper than tempered glass mats.

You will often be able to find good quality polycarbonate mats at reasonable prices, but if you want a glass mat, you will find that their prices are often on the higher end.

Therefore, if you have a tight budget, you can still go far with a polycarbonate mat.

#3 - Aesthetics

Design and aesthetics are very personal matters, and it therefore also depends a lot on what you personally find aesthetic and what fits into your office.

Despite this, there is a reason why the most popular variants are glass or polycarbonate mats; plastic mats easily collect scratches and scuffs, and often appear more dull.

Polycarbonate and glass mats are also often transparent, and therefore many prefer them over plastic and bamboo mats; for others, however, it can also mean that they are often more impersonal than other types of mats.

It largely depends on what your personal preference is, but many feel that they go far by choosing transparent mats, as they are more anonymous, but also elegant in their minimalism.

#3 - The material of the floor

When you have thought about what your mat should be made of and what variant it should be, you then need to take your floor into consideration.

Often you can categorize mats depending on whether they are made for hard floors or carpets, as they are built differently.

Floors of linoleum, wood, tiles, or other hard materials often have a smooth surface, and therefore your mat will easily lay flat on the floor without major issues.

Floors covered with carpet on the other hand are not as even, and the rough surface can make it difficult for many to find a suitable mat for your office chair.

However, there are mats specifically designed for floors covered with carpet; they are fitted with spikes or gripping hooks, which help support the mat and ensure that it does not slide away.

This way, you avoid the mat moving with your chair, and you don’t have to worry about sliding around during intense gaming sessions or if you roll around in your chair while working.
