COAX Internet - Get a fast and stable internet connection

COAX internet is an alternative type of internet connection that primarily uses your antenna and TV cables to provide internet to your home, and is one of the most common offerings made by broadband providers.

COAX is also the name of the cable used, and is one of the most durable and stable cables on the market, so you can be sure that there won’t be large fluctuations in your speeds or that you will lose the connection.

COAX Internet provides you with a stable and fast internet connection, where you can achieve high speeds, thus allowing you to easily surf the internet or use it for work.

There are many places in Denmark where the new fiber optic cables have not yet been laid, and it may take a long time before they reach your home.

Here, COAX internet can be a good alternative, as you get a good and stable connection, and even if you cannot reach the same speeds as with fiber optic, COAX internet is the best alternative for that.

COAX internet has a speed limit of around 1000 Mbit/s, which is a solid internet speed that is enough to meet most needs.

3 Smart Product Types for COAX Internet

If you need some extra equipment for your COAX internet, it can be a good idea to get an overview of which products you can find on the market, so you can more easily find the equipment you need.

Below, you can find a brief overview of some of the products you can get for COAX internet, making it easier for you to find the equipment that suits your needs.

#1 - COAX internet box

Many modern televisions no longer use antenna signals to connect to their TV channels, but instead use the same connection as the internet.

Therefore, modern TVs will typically also have an ethernet port instead of an antenna port, as this provides the TV access to the internet while allowing you to watch regular television without needing to switch between connections.

A COAX box converts the TV and antenna signals that come through the regular COAX connection to an ethernet connection, which you can connect to your computer or router to connect to the internet.

Some more advanced COAX boxes may have a built-in router, allowing you to connect your TV and have direct WiFi from the box without needing to connect an extra router alongside it.

With a COAX box, you have the option to connect all devices in the home, so you can achieve both a good and secure internet and TV connection.

#2 - COAX internet antenna cables

You can find several different types of antenna cables for COAX internet, where you have the option of antenna cables with various plug adapters.

Antenna cables help you transport signals around, so you can establish a connection between your devices and the broadband box.

By using a cable with plug-adapters, you can convert the internet signal to a TV signal or vice versa, depending on which device you want to connect.

However, it requires that you also have a signal converter at the end of the cable, as even though they use the same cable, there are differences between TV and internet signals, and they cannot be used simultaneously.

Such a conversion can be very useful in older homes where there is not always a connection to the internet throughout the house, as you then have the option to run cables to either the TV or the computer.

This way, you can ensure that all your devices receive the correct signals, allowing you to both watch TV and surf the internet.

#3 - COAX internet amplifiers

If you are using long cables around the home to establish a connection to the TV and computer, it may be that you lose some of the internet connection due to the cable lengths.

The longer the cables you use, the further the signal has to travel before it reaches your devices.

This requires more energy and can weaken the signal before it reaches the devices, which can ultimately give you a slower internet connection.

Here, an amplifier can help you, as it gives the signal an extra boost and thus the extra energy the signal needs to reach your devices uninterrupted.

However, it is important that you consider where you want to place the amplifier, as this also affects the quality of the signal.

If you place the amplifier at the end of the cable where your devices are located, it will not greatly enhance the quality, as the signal has already been distorted by the cable.

Therefore, it is a better placement to install the amplifier where the signal enters the home, around the broadband box, so you amplify the signal when it is already strong, thus neutralizing the degradation in the cable.

This way, you can ensure a better connection for both TV and internet, allowing you to get a signal that is stable and of high quality.
