Electric scooter - get around easily and quickly

Undoubtedly, you have seen the popular electric scooters whizzing around the Danish roads in recent times.

These scooters have increasingly become very common and incredibly popular means of transportation, allowing you to travel quickly and easily from A to B.

Get to work extremely easily with an electric scooter, completely environmentally friendly.

With an electric scooter, you get a means of transportation that you can use to get to work or perhaps just to enjoy a pleasant ride on the country road.

However, always remember to check that your specific scooter is approved for use in traffic, as not all models are approved at the present time.

#1 - Remember the rules!

It is very important that your scooter is approved according to Danish legislation, read more on the road safety council or in the regulations section here on the page.

Always be sure that your electric scooter is approved according to Danish rules.

This primarily applies to the smaller models for children and young people, which are only suitable for use on private or quiet roads in residential areas and similar.

As the name indicates, an electric scooter is powered by electricity, with a rechargeable battery that you can easily charge in any normal outlet with the included charging cable.

#2 - How much range does your electric scooter have

The range of electric scooters depends a lot on the brand, but typically lies within 10-20 kilometers on a single charge.

Electric scooters can be charged in a normal outlet without problems.

This means that they are primarily suitable for short-distance travel, e.g., to and from work/school in urban areas.

However, you can also take longer trips, but it requires you to charge along the way, which can take some time.

#3 - Electric scooters in all kinds of weather

Most modern electric scooters are designed to be able to operate in all kinds of weather, as they are built to be waterproof, for example.

However, you still need to be careful in the winter months when the roads can be slippery, just like when you are on a bike.

If you want to know much more about the advantages and the rules and specifications regarding electric scooters, keep reading on this page or on the individual products above.

How far can you go on an electric scooter?

When you read the various specifications for electric scooters, you will see that they have a certain "range" in kilometers.

This range is the estimated distance you can cover on a full charge with your scooter.

However, you may find that this range can vary a bit, which is due to various factors such as:

  • Terrain: You get a higher range if you use your scooter on flat paths, and a lesser range if it is used in uneven terrain, hills, slopes, and other inclines.
  • Weight: Your weight has a lot to say about the range; if the person weighs very little, it can travel longer, and conversely, if one weighs close to the maximum limit, the range will be slightly less.
  • Temperature: Very cold or hot days can affect the battery and thus the range of an electric scooter.
  • Maintenance increases range: If you take good care of your scooter, especially the battery, you can enjoy long ranges for longer periods. Your battery is used over time and can deteriorate after prolonged use.
  • Speed and general driving style affect range: Just like with cars, it is advantageous to maintain a good steady speed when you ride an electric scooter, as this uses the least amount of electricity. Frequent stops, braking, acceleration, etc., affect how much electricity you use, and thus how far you can go on a single charge.

5 Advantages of an electric scooter

If you are a bit in doubt whether an electric scooter might be for you, here are some great advantages.

#1 - No gasoline!

Firstly, an electric scooter is very environmentally friendly, as it of course only uses electricity and not fossil fuels like most cars in Denmark.

#2 - Ride around rush hour

Furthermore, it is incredibly practical, especially in heavily trafficked urban areas, to use an electric scooter for work or school.

You ride right around the traffic as you are allowed to ride on the bike lanes.

#3 - Easily fold it up and take it inside

If you are one of the many who perhaps cannot be bothered, or for another reason cannot bike, an electric scooter is a fantastic alternative where, as mentioned, you can still use your usual cycling route.

When you arrive either at home or at work, you can easily fold your scooter and take it under your arm.

#4 - Easy parking

You never have to worry about parking your car or your bike, as you can simply take the scooter inside and place it in the wardrobe or by your spot at the office.

You can also choose to leave it outside, but then we would recommend having a good lock so you can secure the scooter to a nearby bike stand or other fixed objects.

#5 - Flexibility - decide your own travel time!

One of the key advantages of an electric scooter is the flexibility you get.

You are not bound by traffic jams, delayed bus/train schedules, metro times, and all other unreliable means of transport.

You can go from A to B just as it suits you and can easily charge your electric scooter at the nearest outlet whenever necessary.

Are there rules for electric scooters?

When you choose your scooter, you may have a couple of questions, especially regarding the rules surrounding these vehicles.

Overall, there are a number of rules when it comes to the use of electric scooters that you should know and remember.

Here you have a quick list of the important rules you must follow when using an electric scooter:

RuleDescription
AgeMust be 15 years old to ride in traffic on an electric scooter. Persons under 15 must be accompanied by an adult in traffic.
Alcohol limitSame rules as other vehicles. The alcohol limit for electric scooters is 0.5, just like for cars and bikes.
Speed limitMax 20 km/h under one's own power.
Traffic regulationsElectric scooters are subject to the same rules as bicycles. Follow the instructions directed at cyclists on electric scooters!
CE requirementsYour electric scooter must be approved with the CE mark.
Reflectors and lightsMinimum 1 white/yellow front light and red rear light. Must be visible from 300 meters away. Additionally, visible reflectors are required.
Weight and sizeElectric scooters can weigh a maximum of 25 kg and cannot be longer than 2 meters and 70 cm wide.
Helmet requirementsLike bicycles, it is optional to wear a helmet on electric scooters, but it is highly recommended.

You can find all these rules and further information on the road safety council's website if you need a more public source for the use of electric scooters.

Electric scooters for young people and adults

As you can read above in the section about the rules for electric scooters, one must be 15 years old to ride alone on an electric scooter in traffic.

However, younger children can ride as long as they are accompanied by an adult who can ensure they use the scooter properly and safely.

15-year-olds and above can ride alone, children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Here on this page, you will find smart electric scooters that are suitable for both younger children, young adults, and also adults.

You can easily adjust the scooter's handlebars to fit people of all heights, which also makes them easy to share across different age groups at home.

Electric scooters with a load capacity of up to 120 kg

Some scooters are a bit fragile in terms of their weight limit, but here at avXperten, you can currently get electric scooters that can handle up to 120 kg!

It is always a good idea to buy a scooter that can handle as much weight as possible since this also means it is more robust than less powerful models.

Thus, electric scooters with a high weight limit often last longer before wearing out and have much more difficulty breaking down due to overload.

Denver electric scooters - large selection
