Why you need an ice maker

An ice maker is, as the name suggests, a machine for producing ice cubes. It automatically makes ice cubes and can store them in its container.

It is a practical kitchen tool that ensures your and your guests' drinks are refreshing throughout a warm evening.

It is easy to use and can happily produce ice cubes without requiring too much of your attention. This gives you more time for your guests.

In addition to beverages, you can also easily throw ice cubes into a freezer bag to keep your vegetables and meat cool during an outdoor trip.

At avXperten, you will find a wide range of other smart products that can be used to enhance the party, such as.

5 things to consider before buying an ice maker

Before you go out and invest in an ice maker, you should take the following points into consideration.

It can help you choose the right ice maker that suits your needs and wallet.

The points below should make it easier for you to make a decision if you are considering several ice makers.

#1 The size of the ice maker

Most of our ice makers are practical and can easily be taken around, as long as they can be connected to a power supply.

Always have ice cubes ready for any party. Whether it's for a garden party or just for the camper, you can easily contribute ice cubes to the drinks.

Consider whether you want a portable ice maker or just one that will sit on the kitchen counter.

You can easily read about the sizes of our ice makers in the product descriptions. Here the measurements are specified in mm.

#2 Number of ice cubes per hour

Most of our ice makers can produce up to 12 kg of ice cubes over 24 hours.

12 kg of ice cubes corresponds to approximately 1,296 ice cubes, if allowed to run for the full 24 hours.

Our ice makers can produce up to about 9 ice cubes every 10 minutes, which is 54 ice cubes per hour.

With 12 kg of ice cubes, it should be enough to keep a party going with cold drinks during the event.

#3 Different sizes of ice cubes

The more expensive ice makers can produce several different sizes of ice cubes. This allows you to easily make ice cubes specifically suitable for certain drinks.

You simply need to set the ice maker to make the specific size, and it will start producing ice cubes in the desired size after a couple of minutes.

The larger the ice cubes are, the fewer can fit in the ice container.

You can either use a or to crush the ice cubes if you want to make drinks such as:

  • Mojito
  • Bramble
  • Caipirinha
  • Gin Hass
  • Tom Collins

#4 Capacities of the ice maker

An ice maker has two different containers. A water tank to store the water and an ice container to store the ice cubes.

The larger the water tank is, the fewer times you need to refill it when it has consumed all the water.

Our ice makers have water tanks ranging from 1.6 liters to 2.2 liters, which is the standard for most ice makers.

A basket is included, which sits in the ice container. It is used to collect ice cubes when they are produced and pushed out into the ice container.

The basket also ensures that the ice cubes do not stick together or merge with the water that drips from the ice cubes.

The water that drips from the ice cubes in the basket is actually recycled and fed back into the water tank.

#5 How to clean the ice maker

Some ice makers have self-cleaning features, which makes it easier to clean the ice maker without requiring much work.

All you need is water and vinegar, which is becoming the universal cleaning recipe.

You will need the following:

  • Vinegar
  • Warm water
  • Dry cloth
  1. Make sure to unplug it from the wall socket so that the ice maker is completely turned off. It's never a good idea to mix liquids and electricity.
  2. Empty the ice maker of any remaining water by opening its small plug at the back. If the ice maker doesn’t have such a plug, you can get rid of the water by lifting it and pouring the water out in the sink.
  3. Remove the loose parts, such as the basket and ice scoop, and wash them by hand or in the dishwasher. Most parts are dishwasher safe, but we recommend washing them by hand to avoid damage or deformity in the dishwasher.
  4. Mix about 1/5 of vinegar in some warm water and dip the dry cloth in the mixture of warm water and vinegar.
  5. Thoroughly wipe the inside of the ice maker with the cloth. If there are any stains that are hard to remove, you can pour a little vinegar directly on the cloth and try to wipe it off.
  6. Once you have ensured that the ice maker has been thoroughly dried and has no traces of the cloth, plug the ice maker back into the wall socket. Start the ice maker and let it run a few times to ensure there are no traces of vinegar. Repeat this step until you can no longer smell that vinegar has been in the ice maker.
