7 Things you should consider when looking for a charger for iPhone

Choosing a charger is not a big challenge for most, but there are a few things and specifications you should consider before making your purchase.

Over time, chargers for iPhones have evolved enormously, and that is why there is today a very large selection, with many different types of chargers.

Below you can read more about what you should look for when choosing the right charger for your needs.

#1 - Original iPhone charger or not

Today, there is a long range of chargers that are compatible with iPhones and iPads, which are not produced by Apple itself.

These chargers work perfectly for your iPhone, and you won't really notice the difference compared to a traditional Apple charger, sometimes it's even the opposite.

Unofficial iPhone chargers can often be found with even more power than many official chargers, making them a popular choice.

They are also often significantly cheaper than Apple's own chargers, which is why many choose these variants.

However, you can also be completely sure and just choose an original Apple iPhone charger if you do not want to try the unofficial variants.

#2 - The power of your iPhone charger

Especially new iPhones can take advantage of iPhone chargers with high power.

A normal original Apple charger has a power of around 12W, but you can actually buy other models that have even higher power than Apple's own chargers.

If we are talking about USB-C chargers, you can actually achieve up to 60W, which is 5x as efficient as a normal Apple charger.

However, it is important that your iPhone is a newer model, as not all old models can actually make use of this high power.

If you try to charge an old model of iPhone with a high amount of Watts, it is not necessarily better than using the normal 12W charger, as its battery is not designed to receive the higher amount of power.

#3 - iPhone charger with USB-C

It has been discussed that Apple would allow charging with USB-C, and to some extent they have actually done that, just not in the way many thought.

You still need to charge your iPhone with their normal Lightning cable, but they have now made a cable with USB-C on the other end that can ensure lightning-fast and efficient charging.

This USB-C compatibility requires a “charger” that has a USB-C entry, and then it works just like a normal iPhone charger with cable.

#4 - Magsafe charger for iPhone (Wireless charging)

Times are changing, and even something as simple as charging has suddenly become incredibly high-tech and exciting.

It is indeed possible to charge your iPhone completely without having to connect it to a cable.

With a Magsafe or Qi charger, you can simply place your phone on the charger, and then it will charge completely wirelessly.

This charging method is still incredibly fast, so you don't have to worry about waiting longer than normal.

You avoid long cables and can just place your phone whenever you want, without it being tied down by a normal charging cable.

#5 - Charger for iPhone with long cable

If you want to use your iPhone while it charges and want to move a little farther than the few centimeters most charging cables are, you should consider switching.

Remember that you don't always need to replace the actual unit, but you should just buy a lightning cable with USB/USB-C if you want to switch to a longer cable.

#6 - Fast charger for iPhone

To this end, specific “fast chargers” or “quick chargers” have been produced to do just this.

With a fast charger, you can expect to charge approximately 50% of your battery in under 30 minutes, starting from 0%.

Thus, you can charge your phone to 100% in just about an hour, depending on which model is being referred to.

Remember that not all iPhone models are compatible with fast charging.

#7 - iPhone charger for multiple phones

For households with several people with iPhones, it is undoubtedly an advantage to have a charger that can charge multiple phones at the same time.

For family homes, it can be nice to have such a charger lying in the kitchen so that several family members can have their phones charging at the same time without having to use their own charger.
