The story of avXperten begins in 2007, when Frederik and his younger brother Nikolaj were in the middle of an exciting LEGO project. They were building a detailed LEGO city but were missing specific electronic components for their creation. After searching in vain across Denmark, they decided to import the parts from Germany. With more components than they needed, the idea to launch an online shop to sell the surplus items was born. This was the beginning of avXperten.
Frederik started the business, and when Nikolaj completed his studies, he joined too, allowing the brothers to take their company to the next level together.
Today, avXperten offers a far wider selection than just electronic components. The business now provides products in categories such as toys, outdoor gear, baby items, tools, and much more. It’s a webshop where you can find everything from highly specialised cables to everyday items.
Although the product range has grown significantly, the core of avXperten’s philosophy remains the same: it’s all about delivering products quickly, securely, and at a fair price. Customers keep coming back because they feel confident shopping with avXperten. They know they can trust the fast and reliable delivery. It’s this trust that underpins avXperten’s ambition to become one of the UK’s favourite e-commerce destinations.
avXperten is founded by Frederik Nielsen. The first products are packed and shipped from a small basement flat in Grenaa.
For the first time, avXperten moves out of home and secures its own premises in central Grenaa, which quickly turn out to be too small.
During this period, avXperten grows year on year, selling cables and electronic components across Europe. Every year, the company moves into larger warehouse spaces to keep up with demand.
Plans are drawn up for a purpose-built headquarters to accommodate both current and future growth. Detailed plans are made for a warehouse big enough to house avXperten for many years to come. International sales are put on hold to keep up with growth in Denmark and to continue providing the best possible service.
The new, purpose-built warehouse and headquarters of 1,100 m2 in Grenaa are completed. At the same time, the company invests in six Kardex warehouse robots to speed up order processing, reduce space requirements, and make work significantly easier for staff.
Plans are set in motion to extend the headquarters in Grenaa. The large building opened in 2017 has already become too small.
A new warehouse extension of an additional 2,000 m2 is inaugurated with a visit from the mayor. The warehouse now houses 20 Kardex warehouse robots, all used daily to speed up order processing.
The range is expanding rapidly, and the goal of becoming consumers’ preferred e-commerce destination is still the guiding star at avXperten.
