Hoverboards

Segboard and segboard gokart

Whether you have tried your hand at the popular Segway concept or you are completely new to the area, you will definitely be impressed by our large and varied selection of segboards.

Segboards are perhaps also known as airboards and hoverboards. Segboards are the product for you if you want to bring fun and speed into your everyday life.

These boards are based on the same technology as the larger segways, but they are small and handy enough to take with you on the go and store at home.

One could say that segboards are the new and updated model of the classic skateboard or waveboard.

With a range of super smart products of various kinds on the market, the latest innovations in boards must be able to do a lot to compete with the rapidly growing technology.

However, the segboard has no problems keeping up. All segboards are equipped with a persistent motor that drives the board forward.

What is a segboard?

A segboard can best be described as a combination of a Segway and a skateboard. You steer the segboard by placing your body weight in the direction you want your segboard to move.

Unlike a Segway, a segboard only has the board itself, which you stand on, while a Segway has a handle that you can hold onto if your balance isn't quite up to par. A segboard thus places slightly greater demands on your balance than a Segway does.

This is how a segboard works

It is actually significantly easier to control a segboard than one might think. All segboards are indeed equipped with a persistent motor that drives the board forward.

To activate the motor, you simply lean slightly forward, as you use your body weight to steer your segboard. If you lean back or just stand more upright, the segboard's forward propulsion is reduced, or you come to a complete stop.

All our boards here at AvXperten are equipped with a gyro stabilizer, making them incredibly easy to use. This makes our segboards suitable for both play and fun, but also as real transportation from A to B.

The technology behind segboards

All segboards have battery-powered motors. Often, the batteries are lithium-powered. In relation to the size of the boards, these motors are relatively powerful. Most of the segboards in our selection can therefore reach a top speed of 15 km/h.

Built into most segboards is an advanced stabilization technology that makes them much safer to use than boards without this technology. The gyro technology is a relatively new addition to this genre.

This technology ensures that a hoverboard will always stay upright and balance itself while in use. Thus, there is no risk of the board tipping over if you lean too much forward.

Moreover, the classic segboard model is designed with two footstools that balance each other. This means that it is very difficult to lose balance and fall off.

If you are further concerned about safety, we can reassure you that all our products, including segboards, are both CE and RoHS certified.

Battery for hoverboard

You don't have to worry about changing the batteries on your segboard - not even if you are driving a segboard gokart. The battery is built-in, so you just need to plug it in for charging after you have used your hoverboard.

There can be some differences in the capacity of the batteries in individual segboards. However, most have a capacity of 4000 mAh, which is generally enough for you to drive 15 km on a single charge.

The battery in your segboard gokart takes between three to four hours to fully charge. After this, there is again 15 km of use before you need to charge it again. However, count on up to four hours to ensure that the battery is fully charged.

The legislation for segboards

The legislation regarding segboards has changed significantly since the first segboards hit the Danish market. Back then, you could only ride segboards on private property. Today, the legislation is completely different, so you can use your segboard much more.

In the legislation, segboards are referred to as self-balancing vehicles. The law states that they are allowed in traffic, but that they may not exceed speeds of 20 km/h under motor power alone. If your segboard can travel faster than 20 km/h, it is not allowed on public roads.

Your segboard must weigh no more than 25 kg, be 1.2 meters long, 70 cm wide - and it must be CE approved.

For you to ride your segboard in traffic, it must have lights on - at all times. Your segboard's lights should either be white or yellow at the front, as well as have red rear lights. The lights must be visible from at least 300 meters away. If your segboard does not have permanently mounted lights, these must also be attached to your clothing.

When riding your segboard in traffic, you must follow bicycle rules. This means that you must ride on the bike lane where there is one. It also means that you may only ride in places where there are speed limits of up to 50 km/h. Therefore, you may not ride your segboard on a country road.

If you ride illegally on your segboard - for example on the sidewalk instead of the bike lane, you risk being held liable for accidents. Here you may risk that your insurance does not cover you if you ride illegally on your segboard.

How fast can segboards go

A segboard may, according to Danish law, travel up to 20 km/h if it is to be legally used in traffic. If it can go over 20 km/h, it may only be used on private property.

Most segboards can thus reach speeds of up to 20 km/h, but the vast majority of segboards operate around 15 km/h. Therefore, as a general rule, you do not need to worry about whether your segboard has a speed that places you in a gray area in relation to the legislation.

Price and quality - the cost of segboards

You can easily reach a price of 2,500 - 3,000 DKK for a hoverboard, but there is really no reason for that when you can get comparable segboards for far under 2,000 DKK - even if you also want a segboard gokart.

Since segboards emerged, many more manufacturers have entered the market, making them much more affordable. You can now find segboards for 1,500-1,600 DKK that have the same speed or capacity as those you pay nearly double for.

This price development has meant that segboards have become an option for many more children, who can thus enjoy the opportunities that a segboard offers - including adding a gokart.

Segboards are not a Segway

The basic technology is the same, but a segboard is not the same as a Segway. With a Segway, you have a rod and a handle that you can hold onto when you ride.

The rod and handle are indeed the difference, as the segboard only has the board on which you stand. Here you do not have a handle to hold onto while trying to balance. Children, therefore, unsurprisingly, find it much easier to ride on segboards than adults do.

The segboard thus places slightly greater demands on your balance, as you have to find it without having anything to hold onto. This can be somewhat of a challenge when you are just trying to find your balance on the segboard.

However, the development of segboards has introduced stabilizing technologies that make it easier to maintain balance. So you don't need to fear falling on your backside when you step onto a segboard.

Segboards in the future

Much has already happened with segboards/hoverboards since the first ones came out. There has been rapid advancement regarding technology in segboards - but also in terms of pricing, so they can now be used by many more than before.

The legislation has also changed, so today you can use segboards in traffic. We have therefore not seen the use and spread of segboards peak yet - far from it. Popularity continues to rise steadily as more and more discover segboards and can afford them.

Here, one must not underestimate the impact that the legislative changes have had on the spread of segboards, as the legalization of segboard use on bike paths makes it possible to use your segboard for more than just fun. You can indeed use it as a cheap means of transport.

Segboards for children

We have now already established that segboards are in no way dangerous. Like all other toys and electronic equipment, they should of course be used with caution and common sense.

If you are an adult user, this probably goes without saying. If you are a parent, it is important that you talk to your child about how to use a segboard.

Here, it is a good idea if you supervise your child when they ride on a segboard. At least until the child reaches an age and experience with the segboard that makes constant supervision unnecessary.

A segboard for children is a fantastic entertaining gadget that they will undoubtedly enjoy very much. However, it is not a completely harmless vehicle, so remember the precautions.

The Road Safety Council recommends that you always wear a helmet when riding on a segboard. The council also advises against letting children under the age of 15 ride in traffic or in play and activity areas.

Segboards for adults

The same rules apply when it comes to adults using segboards. However, there is one thing you should take into account if you, as an adult, are riding on a segboard.

Segboards have a maximum load limit, which you should keep in mind if you, as an adult, want to ride on a segboard. The maximum load limit is usually between 100 and 120 kg.

Segboard gokart

Your segboard has multiple functions. One of the most popular is that you can also use your segboard as a gokart. A segboard gokart is where you attach a kart to your segboard, allowing you to sit down and drive.

The segboard can thus become a strong alternative to mooncars, gokarts, and similar vehicles, as the motor in a segboard gokart allows children to drive off at speeds of up to 15 km/h.

The seat - that is, the kart itself, is mounted on the segboard, which is then transformed into a segboard gokart. Here you use the handles to control both speed and direction, so it functions in many ways like a mooncar, where you steer by pulling and pushing the levers.

If you choose a Denver KAR-1550 kart, you will have a segboard gokart regardless of whether your hoverboard has a size of 6.5 or 10 inches, as the kart fits all sizes between the two.

The size refers to the size of the segboard's wheels. Here the main rule is that the larger the wheels your hoverboard has, the better traction it will have. If you choose a segboard with 10-inch wheels, you can also ride off-road and on uneven terrain.

The gokart has a lightweight frame, so you do not add much extra weight to your segboard. However, the maximum load for your segboard gokart is the same as it is for your segboard.

Safety certification of segboards and segboard gokart

When you buy a segboard or a segboard gokart, you should be aware of whether the particular model is safety certified. Here you should first and foremost check if your segboard gokart is CE and RoHS marked.

Of course, safety is an incredibly important parameter when it comes to transportation on segboards. When they first emerged a few years ago, there was a lot of talk about how it couldn't possibly be safe to ride on them.

In addition to the board being secured against tipping forward today, there have also been some unfortunate cases over the years where segboards have caught fire due to overheating either during charging or during use.

The unfortunate incidents typically occurred while riding up steep hills. This is definitely due to the sale of far too cheap segboards lacking temperature protection.

With us, you will find segboards in various variations and price ranges. You are therefore guaranteed to find a segboard that exactly meets your requirements.

Although there is variation in the prices and quality of the segboards that we offer, they are all CE and RoHS marked, meaning they are certified as a result of thorough testing.

You can thus be 100% sure that the segboards you find here with us are absolutely safe and of good quality. We prioritize high safety when it comes to modes of transportation - and that goes for segboards as well.

Accessories for segboards

Segboards have undergone immense development in just a few years, so they can today come with both speedometers, Bluetooth speakers, and various light functions. There are no signs that this development is stopping - on the contrary.

The most popular accessory for segboards is a segboard gokart, where you can transform your hoverboard into a gokart with a single frame. With a segboard gokart set from, for example, Denver, you can turn your segboard into a gokart.

With a mounting kit, you can install a seat for the segboard, as well as an extra wheel, so for just a few hundred kroner, you can get the function of both a segboard and a gokart.

The frame of the segboard gokart is constructed of metal, providing you with a strong frame that offers good stability as you zoom across the ground.

No power, no ride on your segboard. If you are unlucky enough to lose your charger for your segboard, you can also find extra chargers among the accessories for segboards. With our same-day shipping, you will quickly be riding again, should you encounter any issues.
