Sony is known for having quality products in electronics, game consoles, and many other forms of electronic devices and units.

We will therefore provide a brief overview of the different products under Sony's brand, so you can have a better idea of what selection is available for you.

#1 - Sony TVs and Home Theater

Sony has a large selection of different products in TVs and home theaters that help you get just the TV setup you want in your home.

It can be everything from TV speakers, TV screens to projectors and various Blu-Ray and DVD players, so you have the opportunity to build your home theater with the accessories you want.

There can be TVs with Full HD that fit your living room with accompanying surround-sound systems, so you can get the best experience from your movies and series.

#2 - Sony Camcorders

Sony also has a large selection of different camcorders that you can use to capture the important moments when you are on vacation, or if you need a professional camera for work.

Among Sony's cameras, you can find small and compact cameras that can film in up to 4K quality, which will be perfect to take with you on the go or when you go on vacation with the family.

Additionally, you can also find larger and more professional camcorders that can record both in 4K, but also at a much higher frame rate than what is normal.

With these cameras, you can record at a whole 120 FPS, which gives a much smoother movie experience than with regular cameras that only record at 24-60 FPS.

So if you want a high-quality camcorder with many features that suits both beginners and film enthusiasts, a camera from Sony is a good choice.

#3 - Sony PlayStation

Sony's PlayStation is one of the world's most recognized brands of game consoles, with the latest version PlayStation 5 still being new on the market.

The PlayStation console can, however, be used for more than just playing video games, as it has many different multifunctions that allow you to use the console instead of many other products for the TV.

For example, the PlayStation can be used to play both Blu-Rays and DVDs, so there is no need to have extra players for your movies and series next to the console.

In addition, you can install many different apps on the console, that can give you access to many streaming services like Netflix and Spotify, so you can stream both movies and music directly to your TV.

This means that by having a PlayStation, you have the opportunity to consolidate many of the other devices into a single box, giving you much more space under your TV than otherwise.

#4 - Sony Audio Devices

Sony has a large selection of different audio devices, where you can find just the type of sound that you want in your home.

It could be that you need a new set of headphones, where Sony can offer models with both wired and wireless functionality.

Additionally, you can find a large selection of different speakers that fit both PCs and TVs, so you can get the sound you want.

There can also be wireless solutions, so you don’t have to hassle around the home with trailing wires to your various devices, which can really take up space in a surround-sound setup.

You can also find smaller portable wireless speakers, which you can take with you when you go to a garden party or just want to hear music around the home.

They can connect to your mobile via Bluetooth and make it super easy to enjoy the music you want.

Sony's History

Sony was established back in 1946 as an electronics store in Tokyo, which at that time was called Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo (Tokyo Telecommunications and Engineering Company)

Here, they produced transistor radios for the local population and also made the first Japanese tape recorder.

In 1958, Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo changed its name to Sony to gain a better foothold in the international market.

The name Sony is a mix of the words sonus (sound in Latin) and sonny, a loanword from English that was used in Japan to describe smart young men, how the founders saw themselves.

With Sony's introduction of the TR-63 transistor radio, the company really gained traction, as this radio became a great success in the American market and during the period from 1955 to 1968, the number of units sold grew from 100,000 to a total of 5 million.

In the 1960s, the American subsidiary Sony Corporation of America was established to counter the common perception that products from Japan were of inferior quality compared to those produced in America.

Throughout the 1960s, Sony launched their first transistor TV in a lightweight and compact version, and already in 1968 Sony's first color TV came to market.

Throughout the 1970s, Sony developed their range with new models of tape recorders and cassette players, such as Betamax and U-Matic VTR models.

In 1978, Sony invented and launched the world's first portable cassette player, better known as the Walkman.

This was a major revolution for the music industry, as this was the first time you could easily take music on the go without having to lug around large cassette players, and just 10 years after the first launch, over 100 million Walkmans had been sold worldwide.

Throughout the 1980s, Sony worked on building the world's first CD players, with the first version being launched in 1982, and just two years later in 1984 the portable version where you could play your CDs while on the go was launched.

At the same time, Sony expanded their range and began producing camcorders that fit both professional camera people, but also for the film enthusiast at home.

In 1994, Sony launched their first gaming console in the form of their PlayStation, which over its 12-year lifespan sold a total of 102 million units, establishing Sony as a major player in the gaming market.

Throughout the 00s, Sony expanded their range of TVs and audio devices, which they have continued to develop, so they can provide the best quality of sound and screens possible.

In the year 2000, Sony also launched their PlayStation 2, the successor to their first successful gaming console.

The PlayStation 2 ended up becoming the most popular gaming console in the world, selling a total of 155 million units worldwide, which still holds the record, even if you look at newer consoles.

The development of the PlayStation brand has continued with the launch of PlayStation 3, 4, and the latest gaming console PlayStation 5, which was launched in 2020.

Sony has constantly invented and developed their products, and has been at the forefront of technological development throughout their history.

So if you want to be sure of a quality product in electronics and gaming, Sony is a brand that you can go far with.
