TP-Link
TP-Link - Premium networking solutions
Since 1996, the company TP-Link has been a leader in the market when it comes to solutions for networks for both private consumers and businesses.
TP-Link was among the first to provide effective Wi-Fi solutions and contributed to laying the groundwork for wireless networking technology to become efficient enough to compete with wired connections.
In our range of TP-Link products, you can find an incredible variety of solutions, such as:
- TP-Link routers
- TP-Link network switches
- TP-Link PoE injectors/switches
- TP-Link Smart Home Wi-Fi sockets
- TP-Link WiFi extenders
- And much, much more
TP-Link is known for their fantastic prices compared to the quality experienced.
They have managed to create a long series of devices and accessories for your network so you can get the most out of your signal at home or in the workplace.
The story behind TP-Link
TP-Link was founded back in 1996 by the two Chinese brothers, Zhao Jianjun and Zhao Jiaxing.
These two brothers invented a network card which they wanted to mass-produce and distribute.
The name comes from the concept of “twisted pair link” invented by Alexander Graham Bell, and is a form of cabling that reduces electromagnetic interference.
In 2005, the company started expanding into international markets, and in 2007 they opened a 100,000 square meter “industry park” in Shenzhen, “Hi-Tech Industry Park”.
Since then, the company has been in constant development and today is one of the most recognized brands when it comes to wireless internet solutions.
7 Smart networking solutions from TP-Link
TP-Link has a wide range of different products for networks.
To make it a bit easier for you to overview, we will explain a little more below about some of the many different types of products.
#1 - TP-Link Routers
TP-Link is particularly known for their routers, which in their time were among the first on the market where one could actually feel that Wi-Fi could keep up somewhat with wired Ethernet connections.
TP-Link offers both completely standard routers, which you can easily install by connecting a network cable to them and setting up the signal with a code, etc.
Additionally, they also have another smart solution in the form of their 3G/4G and perhaps soon 5G routers.
The latter type of router actually makes it possible to have a router exactly where it suits you, without having to connect a network cable.
Instead, the router uses a SIM card like the ones we use in our phones, creating a WiFi signal that you and those around you can connect to as long as they have the code.
This makes particularly good sense in workplaces where it is not always easy to have a cable for everyone.
You can instead set up a 3G/4G/5G router, and enjoy a strong signal exactly where you need it most.
#2 - TP-Link Network Cards
If you have a stationary computer that you want to connect to WiFi, it requires a network card that can handle it.
Most stationary computers often only have ports for wired network connections.
Fortunately, there are also network cards with WiFi antennas, which allow you to connect via WiFi and obtain network on your computer in this way.
TP-Link has a selection of smart solutions here, and all you have to do is insert the network card in the right place, and then you have access to wireless network on your stationary computer.
#3 - TP-Link Network Switches
A network switch is an essential tool if there are many users sharing the same wired connection.
Network switches act as a type of “power strip” for network cables and make it possible to split the signal from a single port into multiple signals.
This is particularly handy in workplaces or in server rooms where many connections are needed.
You simply insert a network cable from the wall to the switch, and can then connect a number of additional network cables to the switch and lead them out to the devices that need a network connection.
However, be aware that this may slightly reduce the signal strength depending on how many people are using the network from the same switch.
#4 - TP-Link Wi-Fi Adapters
If you want an incredibly easy solution to access WiFi on your computer, a WiFi adapter/dongle is the absolute easiest way to do it.
This type of device simply needs to be plugged into a USB port and will then create a wireless signal that enables you to connect your stationary computer with your router.
The only drawback of this solution is that these dongles/adapters are often a bit weaker in signal strength than a full WiFi network card.
However, they are much easier to work with and are perfect if you do not need the absolutely fastest signal.
#5 - TP-Link Wi-Fi Repeaters/Extenders
If the WiFi signal is a bit weak in some corners of the home or workplace, one or more WiFi repeaters/extenders can help a great deal.
This type of device extends your WiFi signal, which may be necessary in older buildings with very thick walls, or in workplaces that need the signal to reach large areas.
The WiFi repeater typically needs to be plugged into a socket and then connects to your normal WiFi signal from your router.
It can then send the signal further and more powerfully around it.
However, you will rarely experience the same signal strength as if your device is close to your regular WiFi router.
The extender is just a solution to help the signal reach corners of the building but is not a solution to make the speed stronger than it originally was.
#6 - TP-Link Wi-Fi Surveillance Cameras
If you want increased security at home or in your workplace, TP-Link also has solutions for that.
They have a range of surveillance cameras that can easily connect to your WiFi signal and easily transfer recordings to your computer.
Their cameras are available at very competitive prices and can be installed exactly where you want them.
#7 - TP-Link Access Points & PoE Injectors
We have already talked a bit about WiFi repeaters/extenders, but actually, there are even better solutions to extend your signal at home.
This does require a bit more setup, but for those of you who want the best possible WiFi signal, it is undoubtedly worth the effort.
Access points can be installed around your home where the signal is weak and can create an incredibly strong WiFi signal via network cable and possibly a PoE injector.
You can think of each individual access point as a type of extra router, as they receive network directly from the wall and not just extend a WiFi signal like a WiFi extender does.
This provides an incredibly strong network signal, which is ideal for private households and businesses that want the absolute best in wireless networking.
