Wireless HDMI - Wireless transmission of audio and video to your PC or TV
When you set up your TV, you often have to pull a lot of cables back and forth to ensure that you can get the right connection to your TV channels.
With a wireless HDMI sender and receiver, you get the opportunity to pull fewer cables, as you get the same picture quality on the TV, but without a thick cable lying across the living room.
You can also use wireless HDMI if you want to stream movies and series to your TV from your computer without having to wrestle with various cables to make it work.
Depending on your needs, you can get wireless HDMI with different picture qualities, allowing you to get good picture quality from standard HD and all the way up to 4K HD or better.
If you want to be able to stream the screen from other devices, or movies and series directly to your large TV in the living room, then a wireless HDMI system can be a good investment.
4 things to consider when buying wireless HDMI
If you want to stream your various movies and series directly to your TV without using cables, it may be a good idea to make some considerations to ensure you get the right wireless HDMI system.
We will provide you with a couple of examples of considerations to better assess which type of wireless HDMI fits your needs at home.
#1 - What can you use wireless HDMI for?
There are many different situations where wireless HDMI could be advantageous, as it gives you a number of options on how you want to set up your TV system.
You can, among other things, use wireless HDMI devices when setting up your TV, as you may be far from your TV box or internet cable that needs to run to the TV.
Here you can avoid having a long cable running through the house to connect to the TV, as you can simply plug in a sender and receiver into the relevant HDMI ports on the TV and in the TV box, where they will establish a wireless connection with each other.
You can also use wireless HDMI to connect other devices to your TV so you can view the screen instead of the relevant device.
This allows you to stream movies, series, or games from your computer to a larger screen without having to run cables between them.
It can provide you with a much better picture and sound experience, and gives you many more options for what you can get on the big screen, allowing you to get more out of your home entertainment.
With larger wireless HDMI devices, you also get the opportunity to connect multiple devices to the same TV, allowing you to quickly switch between channels, whether you want to watch a movie or something on a streaming service on the PC; you can easily switch between them without having to swap the wireless HDMI devices.
This gives you much more flexibility, and you get exactly the type of entertainment you want when you want it.
#2 - The range of wireless HDMI
You should also consider where your TV is located in relation to the devices it needs to connect to, to ensure that your wireless HDMI devices can reach each other.
The wireless connection has a limited range depending on which model you have purchased, so it may be a good idea to measure the distance, so the distance is not greater than the range of the relevant model.
Range on selected wireless HDMI devices:
- 7 m
- 10 m
- 20 m
- 50 m
However, you need to be aware of how your room layout is set up at home, as if there are many walls between the TV that needs to make the connection and your TV box.
This can potentially quickly degrade the signal, and you may not get the full range that wireless HDMI systems can provide.
Therefore, it may be that you should invest in a wireless HDMI device that has a greater range than you actually need, so you are sure that the signal can get through your walls, allowing you to get a good connection.
You should therefore investigate how much range your wireless HDMI device needs to have, so you have a better opportunity to choose the model that fits your needs.
#3 - The picture quality of wireless HDMI
When you need to choose which wireless HDMI model you want, you should also consider which picture quality you want on your TV.
The better picture quality you want, the greater speed the connection requires, and it can significantly impact the price of your wireless HDMI device.
However, you should also check whether your TV can support that picture quality, as it does not pay to invest in a wireless HDMI device that can transmit 4K images if your TV can only handle a standard HD signal.
If your TV can handle a high and good picture quality, it would be a shame to only use it with a standard Full HD picture quality, as there is a significant difference between Full HD and 4K+ images.
Most wireless HDMI devices transmit a signal with Full HD picture quality (1080p), while the very large devices can send up to 4K or better.
You should therefore investigate what picture quality your TV can handle so that you do not purchase a wireless HDMI device that transmits a signal where you cannot utilize the full potential.
#4 - Multiple senders for your wireless HDMI device
If you want more flexibility in your setup, it may be that you want multiple senders, so you can receive wireless HDMI signals from several different sources.
With multiple senders for your devices, it allows you to easily switch between them, so you can choose whether you want to watch regular TV or stream from your PC or laptop.
This also allows you to switch to other devices like your consoles, so you do not have to run cables from them to the TV, and it gives you many more options for what types of entertainment you can have available on a TV.
So you don't have to struggle to get behind your large TV to switch cables when you want to switch from your consoles to the regular TV signal, and vice versa.
