Air mattresses for any need - Both outdoor and indoor
Here on the site, you will find our selection of smart air mattresses for any need.
Our air mattresses are available for single individuals or couples, and with various smart features.
If you don't want to pump your air mattress manually, you can for example find smart air mattresses with an electric pump that does the work for you.
Additionally, you can also choose mattresses in different materials that create a comfortable and soft experience when you need to sleep on the air mattress.
Air mattresses can be found in models suitable for indoor and outdoor use, depending on your needs.
5 Things to consider when buying an air mattress
Before purchasing an air mattress, there are several things you should consider to ensure you get the right solution for your needs.
#1 - Air mattress for 1 or 2 persons
The first and most important thing to consider is the size of your air mattress.
Air mattresses are available for single individuals as well as for 2 persons.
The dimensions of air mattresses vary greatly across different models, and you may find that one designed for 2 persons can be what we know as a 3/4 bed, while others are indeed double beds.
Here are some examples of typical dimensions in air mattresses:
- 191x97x42 cm (single bed)
- 203x152x30 cm (for 2 persons)
- 191x137x22 cm (for 2 persons)
As you can see, there can be a significant difference of up to 15 cm between two different air mattresses that are both designated for 2 persons.
Therefore, it is important to consider how much space you need before choosing an air mattress.
#2 - Waterproof air mattress - for outdoor use
Air mattresses are available in variants that are suitable for either indoor use or outdoor use.
All air mattresses can certainly be used indoors, but not all can withstand outdoor conditions.
If you want to use your air mattress outdoors, you should ensure that it is made of the right material to avoid damage.
This is typically stated in the description of the air mattress, where you can read whether it is waterproof or not.
The top layer of an air mattress is not necessarily waterproof with a standard air mattress, which can mean that water seeps into the mattress itself.
Outdoor air mattresses should never be left in rain, but are typically used on a warm summer night on the lawn, or in a tent during a camping trip and the like.
#3 - Surface/material of your air mattress
Even though air mattresses are of course filled with air, this does not necessarily mean that the mattress is always soft and comfortable across different models.
Some models are very simple and are made entirely of plastic all around.
Other models have a surface made of a softer material, which greatly increases comfort when using the mattress.
This is often an advantage if you desire a soft experience when you need to sleep, but conversely, you can easily save this extra material if you don't need such a soft air mattress.
#4 - Weight limit
To ensure your air mattress does not get damaged, especially if it is used by multiple people at the same time, you need to ensure it has the right weight limit.
Fortunately, most air mattresses today are extremely robust and can typically hold up to 150 kg for single air mattresses and up to 300 kg for air mattresses for 2 persons.
This means they can be used without fear of breaking for most people of all sizes.
However, you should always check the product description before your purchase to be 100% sure that it has a sufficient weight limit.
#5 - Electric pump - save yourself the trouble!
What is undoubtedly the most time-consuming regarding an air mattress is pumping it up.
Older models often require you to pump them up manually using a standard air pump.
However, newer models have the fantastic addition of being able to inflate themselves electronically.
This does require that you have access to a standard power outlet for them to operate.
Thus, the solution is not always practical, for example, for camping outdoors where you may not have access to electricity.
If you do need to use the air mattress at home or when visiting friends and family, you can easily inflate it.
Frequently asked questions about air mattresses
How do you easily get the air out of an air mattress?
Most air mattresses have a valve that you can unscrew to release air. If you have an older model, it might have a larger plug, and you need to be more careful here as it releases air much faster than with a valve. Just unscrew the valve slightly and let the air seep out until the air mattress is flat or has a suitable firmness for your needs.
How can you find a hole in an air mattress?
Since you're dealing with air, the easiest way to find a hole in your air mattress is to inflate it, apply pressure to it, and listen. You will quickly be able to hear a hissing sound of air escaping and can very quietly navigate to find the hole and patch it.
Can you patch an air mattress?
An air mattress can certainly be patched, and there are even specific patch kits available for air mattresses. Some choose to just use strong tape, but it is highly recommended to use the appropriate repair kits for air mattresses, as this provides the best patching solution.
