iPad charger for efficient charging of your iPad

Here on the site, you will find the complete range of chargers for iPad that can efficiently charge your iPad and can be taken on the go.

Whether you have the latest model of iPad or a slightly older model, you can find a charger that fits your iPad perfectly.

You can find chargers both with and without a cable and with different plug types. Most iPad wall chargers have a USB port in the charger itself, but it is also possible to find a charger with a USB-C plug.

If you are unsure about which charger you should use for your iPad, we have compiled some things below that can help you find the right charger for your iPad.

7 things you need to know when looking for a new iPad charger

There are now quite a few different iPad chargers on the market, and it can sometimes be a challenge to figure out which one is the right one for a specific model of iPad.

Below, we have compiled some things you should pay attention to that can help you find the right model for your iPad.

#1 - One charger - multiple devices

Your iPad charger can be used for several different devices, depending on its power output, whether it's a phone, Apple AirPods, earbuds, or smartwatch.

Some chargers even have the ability to charge two devices at the same time, as they have two outputs.

Even though you can use your iPad charger for multiple devices, for many people, it is a practical choice to have several chargers around the house so that you don't have to move a single charger every time you go into another room.

You might have a lot of charging cables lying in the drawer, but only one power supply, and here you can consider a power supply with multiple outputs so that you can charge several devices at the same place simultaneously.

#2 - iPad charger for the wall socket or the car

A new iPad charger can be purchased for either plugging into the wall socket at home or for the car's power outlet so you can charge your iPad while focusing on driving.

The iPad power supply for the wall socket comes in many variations, and what's important to look for is that the power supply matches the plug on your charging cable and the output power that your iPad needs.

iPad charger for the car is often just a plug that converts the car's power outlet, previously called cigar lighter, to either USB or USB-C plug, where you simply plug in the charging cable.

You should be aware that the power output the car can provide is often limited to about 12 W, and the newer iPads often require at least 18 W to charge effectively.

This means that it may take quite a long time to charge your iPad in the car, but if you just need the kids to be able to watch movies on the drive with the power connected, this can work with this solution.

#3 - USB, USB-C, or Lightning charger for iPad

Depending on which model of iPad you have, there may be differences in which plug you need for the charger.

The cable itself also determines which charger you should choose so that you ensure that you can connect your charging cable with the power supply.

Typically, there are 3 plug types used in the power supply itself, which are USB, USB-C, or Lightning, but the plug on your iPad may be different from that of the power supply.

Thus, you may have a charging cable where the plug for your iPad is a Lightning plug, but the plug on the other end is a USB plug, therefore you need a power supply with a USB output.

The newest and most used plugs on newer iPads are USB-C plugs, which are among the most reliable and fastest charging methods, and this plug is increasingly being used in many other devices, making it easier to share power supplies with other devices.

#4 - iPad charger with or without cable

When you need to find a new iPad charger, you can find these both with or without a cable, and with the new eco-friendly initiatives, which mean that a charger does not necessarily come with your new iPad, it may be necessary to buy a complete set.

When you choose a set, it consists at minimum of a power supply for the wall socket and a charging cable that fits the power supply.

This means you get everything in one package, but if you already have several power supplies, you can often use one of these and just buy a charging cable.

Often, a household has several charging cables to ensure that they can always charge the family's electronic devices, but may have only one or two power supplies, and you can of course also find a power supply without a cable that fits your iPad.

#5 - The power of an iPad charger

An iPad charger is not just an iPad charger, as there are many models of iPads, there are also many models of plugs and chargers.

It is, however, important to know which power your iPad needs in order to choose the right power supply.

Most newer iPads need a power supply that can deliver at least 12W, while earlier models could manage with 5-10W.

If you get a power supply with too low power, the charging of your iPad can take ages, and at the same time, the power supply has to work harder and can get quite warm. This does not damage your iPad but can be annoying to wait for the charging.

However, it is better to choose a too powerful power supply as this does not harm your device but can ensure faster charging than if you chose one that is too small.

In general, the charging goes faster the higher the power of the power supply, but you also need to be aware that a power supply with a higher power is typically more expensive than one with less power, and in terms of weight, a smaller one is also lighter.

#6 - Fast charger or regular charger

Some chargers are so-called fast chargers, and earlier many believed that this was not good for the battery and that this function should only be used as a last resort.

With the new USB-C plugs, the fast charging function can almost be found in all power supplies and consists simply of the power supply delivering extra power until the device is charged to 50%, then it returns to regular charging.

A regular charger charges with the same power throughout the cycle and has very low power loss in the form of heat.

A fast charger delivers high power to start with and can therefore get warm, resulting in power loss due to this.

#7 - Prolong the lifespan of your iPad battery

Batteries in electronic products generally have a fairly long lifespan, but over time, the battery's ability to receive and store power diminishes, and there are various factors that can accelerate this.

Therefore, you have the opportunity to prolong the life of your battery by knowing the impact of factors on the battery, for example:

  • Heat - When you charge your iPad, it can be a good idea to take it out of any cover so that it can more easily dissipate the heat generated during charging.
  • Shocks - Batteries generally do not do well with shocks or vibrations, so you should avoid throwing, tipping, or dropping your iPad.
  • Direct sunlight - Electronic devices like your iPad do not do well when stored in direct sunlight, as the device can quickly become very hot.
