Numeric keyboard for your laptop
It is really practical to have a laptop. Especially if you need to move it around and take it on the go. A laptop makes it possible to work almost anywhere, as it is easy to pack up and start again, unlike a desktop computer. Since many of these computers are designed to be as compact as possible, making them easy to carry around, you may find that you miss certain features. For example, in many cases, there may not be room for a numeric keyboard.
The numeric keyboard is usually located on the right side. Here you have the numbers and a few other symbols that are especially used in connection with calculations of various things. It can be a great advantage to have these things gathered on the right side, as it allows you to enter numbers on your computer more quickly and easily. Otherwise, you will have to use the numbers located in a straight row near the top of your keyboard, and you will likely find that it is not quite as easy and doesn’t go quite as fast. Of course, it’s a matter of taste, but you can easily connect an external numeric keyboard, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of this.
Faster input and better ergonomics
You can buy an external numeric keyboard that is very easy to connect to your laptop. They come in different versions, which also have different ways to connect. However, for all of them, you will quickly figure out how to do it, possibly with some instruction, and then you are ready to use your numeric keyboard. If you are used to using the other number keys on your computer, you will probably just need to adjust to the new keyboard. You are not used to having something on the right side, where you will likely place it. If you have previously worked on a desktop or a larger laptop, you will be familiar with the numbers on the right side, and it will be easy for you to continue working on your laptop.
Regardless, you will probably over time experience that you become quicker at entering numbers on your computer. It should also feel better when you have all the numbers and other calculation functions gathered in the same place. This means you won’t have to move your hand as much, and if you work a lot with input and calculations, it will likely relieve your hand. So you can look forward to becoming more efficient, and at the same time, you will experience better ergonomics, which is important if you work a lot on the computer. This way, you will avoid getting various computer-related injuries that often arise from improper posture or spending too much time in the same positions. It can thus become an investment that makes you faster and at the same time reduces your risk of getting a computer-related injury.
An advantage for calculations and input
If you regularly work with finance, calculations, data entry, or similar tasks, then an external numeric keyboard will be an advantage for most. Since it’s precisely the numbers and other calculation symbols like plus and minus that you get gathered, it is especially people who use these keys a lot who will benefit from connecting a numeric keyboard. If you are unsure whether it is right for you, you can always acquire it to try it for a period. Then you will quickly find out if it is something for you. It will probably also depend on how much you use it in your work. But even if data entry doesn't take up your entire workday, you will likely see some benefits from acquiring a numeric keyboard. Even with little work, you will likely be able to feel the advantages.
Many jobs can increasingly be performed outside the workplace. If you are one of those who find yourself in a situation where you often work from home or on the go, it would also be sensible to try a numeric keyboard. This applies to tasks like calculations and data entry of larger quantities, where there should be time to save as soon as you get used to the new keyboard. If you are familiar with it from before, you probably won’t need any adjustment, as it will feel completely natural for you to use.
It is easy to connect the external numeric keyboard and just as quickly to disconnect it again. Moreover, it doesn’t take up much space, and if you have your laptop in a computer bag or similar, you will easily be able to find room for your external keyboard. This way, you can take it out for tasks where you need it and pack it away again so it doesn’t take up space while you are working on other tasks where you don't need the numbers and calculation symbols. It is thus a very flexible solution that anyone for whom it is relevant can learn to use.
