VESA Adapter - Perfect mounting of TV on wall bracket

Here on the side, you will find a selection of VESA adapters that allow you to use your existing wall bracket, even if you get a new TV with different VESA measurements than the old one.

The VESA adapter can thus make it possible to adapt the holes in your TV to almost any wall bracket.

VESA is an international term for the distance at which the holes for the mounting brackets on your TV are placed and the number is always specified in millimeters, with the width first and then the height.

Typical VESA measurements are for example:

  • 200x200 mm.
  • 400x400 mm.
  • 300x200 mm.
  • 500x400 mm.

You can often find the VESA measurements in the manual for your TV or wall bracket, but you can also simply measure the distance between the screw holes in your TV.

Many wall brackets fit multiple VESA measurements, but if you are unfortunate enough to have acquired a new TV that has different VESA measurements than your mount is designed for, you can therefore use a VESA adapter to reshape the TV's VESA measurements.

There are several different models of VESA adapters and it can therefore be difficult to know which model is best suited for your new TV, but if you read on below, you can find some points that you should be aware of when you need to get a VESA adapter.

5 things you should know before buying a VESA Adapter

VESA adapters come in different models, and these models are suitable for different screens.

Common to most models of VESA adapters, however, is that they must be mounted directly on your TV and not first on your wall bracket.

Below we have compiled some things you should be aware of when choosing a VESA adapter for your TV.

#1 - VESA measurements on VESA Adapter

When you need to find a VESA adapter for your TV, you should of course ensure that the VESA adapter supports the VESA measurements that you have on your TV, and also supports the VESA measurements that your wall bracket supports.

If your TV has VESA measurements of 200 x 200 mm and your wall bracket only supports 400 x 400 mm, you must be aware that your VESA adapter supports both of these VESA measurements.

If your new VESA adapter does not support 400 x 400 as the wall bracket, you will still not be able to mount your screen.

Most VESA adapters, however, support a wide range of different VESA measurements, and therefore often also have many different holes in the adapter, so you will probably not have trouble finding a model that fits here.

Here on the page, you can find VESA adapters with many different VESA measurements, including:

  • 75x75
  • 100x100
  • 100x200
  • 200x100
  • 200x200
  • 300x200
  • 300x300
  • 400x200
  • 400x400

#2 - VESA Adapter weight

Just like your wall bracket can hold a certain weight from the TV, this also applies to your VESA adapter.

VESA adapters are therefore designed for a specific screen weight, and you should therefore know the weight of your screen so you can ensure that both the VESA adapter and wall bracket can handle the weight of the screen.

You should also remember that the adapter must be counted in the weight of the screen when you check if the wall bracket can bear the weight of the screen.

If you put the adapter on a screen that is heavier than what the adapter is designed for, this risks damaging either the adapter or the wall bracket, and in the worst case, your new TV.

Some adapters are designed for a maximum weight of the screen of 3 Kg and others can handle a weight of up to 30 Kg, but remember that this load capacity, of course, also depends on the load capacity of the wall bracket.

#3 - Vesa Adapter for different mounts

Some VESA adapter models are better suited for certain types of mounts than others, and here you can for example be aware of whether the adapter is suitable for wall brackets that can tilt, rotate or swivel, or if it is better for a slim mount.

There are generally three types of wall brackets:

  • Slim - which holds the screen tight against the wall in a fixed position
  • Extension and tilt - which makes it possible to pull the screen away from the wall, tilt it or rotate it.
  • Ceiling mount - which holds the screen fixed from a ceiling mount

Some VESA adapters are better suited to handle the load that comes with, for example, a tilt mount, and here you can often find a somewhat larger plate, whereas other adapters are better used together with a slim wall bracket because the adapter does not take up much space behind the screen.

Therefore, you should look for whether the new VESA adapter is suitable for the type of wall bracket it will be connected to.

#4 - VESA Adapter screen size

Even though the most important thing about a VESA adapter is that the VESA measurements fit both the screen and the wall bracket, it is also important that the adapter fits the screen size of your new screen.

It does not help to buy a VESA adapter that fits a 13” television if your screen is 55”, even if the VESA measurements fit.

It often works out that the adapter's load capacity is related to the screen size it fits.

You will therefore typically also be able to find out if the VESA adapter fits your screen size by looking at the specifications.

Here on the page, you will find adapters that fit most screen sizes, and most models fit a range of screen sizes, such as:

  • 13 - 27”
  • 23 - 81”

#5 - VESA Adapter with or without screws

When you invest in a VESA adapter, you should be aware of whether VESA screws are included; if not, you will need to find and purchase them separately.

Many VESA adapters do not come with VESA screws that fit into the screw holes on your screen, as there are often several different sizes of VESA screws included with the screen.

But if you do not have enough VESA screws to mount the adapter on the screen and then on the wall bracket, you should be aware of which size of VESA screws you need to use to mount the adapter in your TV.

This information can often be found in the user manual for the screen or by measuring the dimensions of the screw hole with a caliper.
