The Story of VTech
VTech was founded in 1976 in Hong Kong under the name "Video Technology Limited" and in 1991 the company was renamed VTech.
Initially, VTech produced video games and in 1977 the company produced its first TV game console, and since primarily consumers in Europe and North America could afford the machine, these were the primary markets.
In the early 1980s, VTech began to produce a whole series of video games aimed at learning.
After that, development took off and the company developed a range of electronic products, which included:
- PCs
- IBM and Apple compatible computers
- Telephones
- Wireless headsets
- and much more
Today, VTech's main products are telephones for both individuals and businesses, learning software, and toys, as well as contract manufacturing of electronic products for companies.
VTech - known for learning toys
In Denmark, VTech is particularly known for their console games and toys, which are designed for very young children from 2 years up to their teenage years.
You might remember the small pink or yellow/purple console with Disney games that many children had a few years ago, or maybe the talking bear that many wished for as a christening gift for their child.
The products that VTech is known for here in Denmark help develop children's speech, motor skills, and concentration, and the products have won numerous awards worldwide for among other things best toy.
There are still many products for children from VTech on the Danish market, and they are still products centered around learning and development.
5 good reasons to choose VTech
VTech produces everything from strollers to musical toys and learning software for PCs, and their many recognitions and awards from around the world speak volumes.
Therefore, there are really many good reasons to choose products from VTech, and below you will find 5 of them, which we believe are the most important.
#1 - Many years of experience and development
VTech has been producing toys and products that support children's learning and development since 1980, while also developing both computers and telephones.
They have therefore many years of experience in developing usable and effective products, and have for many years utilized technologies from computers to produce even better toys.
With over 30,000 employees in the company as a whole, including a large number of developers, VTech is working towards their goal of making learning fun.
The many years of experience and development have resulted in more than 100 new product launches each year and more than 60 million electronic toys sold in 2021.
#2 - Known for quality
VTech is known for their high quality and design, which stands out in the market, their products are often handed down between siblings and are incredibly durable.
Even the older V-Smile consoles can still be found used, where consumers sell them, fully operational despite having been used for several children.
These are truly robust products and even though new ones keep coming, the older products do not go out of fashion or get destroyed.
All VTech toys are thoroughly tested and approved for children's play, and most can easily go along to the garden and be used without being damaged.
The toys can often easily withstand being dropped, stepped on, or knocked over, without breaking, which is what happens when small children play.
#3 - Development and learning
VTech is known for their interactive toys particularly for younger children, which make learning fun, so the child does not realize that they are learning a lot while playing.
The toys stimulate children's senses and can make them curious to learn, and it keeps the child's concentration with both lights and sounds.
When the child's senses are activated at an early stage, it can benefit the child in the development process and make it easier for the child to receive learning later in life, while much of the toy trains fine motor skills, making it easier for the child with motor skills.
With the development of the products, VTech has always aimed to make learning and development fun and exciting, and based on the idea that the earlier the child learns, the easier schooling and education will be.
The development and learning do not stop because the child gets a little older, as there are countless products for various stages of development, so the child is constantly challenged and kept focused.
This is just one of the reasons why VTech is one of the world's largest producers of electronic learning toys.
The company has also developed software that helps children who have difficulty reading or calculating to improve, through computer programs.
#4 - For the smallest and the somewhat bigger children
VTech manufactures toys and products for both very small babies, who need a soft interactive toy, to somewhat bigger children who want more technology.
So the play with VTech does not stop because the child grows older, the toys evolve with the child’s development and VTech is unique in creating fun, promoting, and developing toys that have a positive impact on the child's development up to about 10 years of age.
The connection between cause and effect that the child learns from a very young age follows them into their teenage years and can make it easier for the child to understand the connections between different things.
For the slightly bigger children, there are, among other things, cameras that come complete with a screen and printer, animated backgrounds and other technology, where for the youngest there are often buttons, locks that can be opened, and things that blink.
#5 - Focus on the environment and social responsibility
VTech is committed to minimizing their impact on the environment and climate, and has established strict requirements that both they and the entire company's value chain must meet.
The company uses safe and sustainable products in production and increases each year the proportion of the company’s energy consumption that comes from wind and solar energy.
In addition, large sums are invested in developing schools in disadvantaged areas around the world, and the company collaborates with several charitable organizations to improve learning opportunities for young people by creating inspiring environments and a healthy spirit of innovation.
