When you look at a blender's features, it resembles many other kitchen tools, such as stick blenders, food processors, juicers, etc.
Although they are quite similar, each is suited for different tasks.
A blender is a kitchen tool that can be used for many different things. It is used to blend various ingredients together so that they become a unified mass.
A blender consists of three components. A base, a housing, which is the container that can be shaped like a jug, drinking bottle, or bucket, and the lid as the third component.
Inside the base, there are motor-driven blades made of steel, which are used to cut the ingredients and mix them together so that they become one consistency.
The blades are not always necessarily in the base. They can also be on a lid that you attach to the base with the housing screwed onto the lid. These are seen, for example, in smoothie blenders, etc.

The most common blender consists of the base, the housing, the lid, and sometimes a tamper, which is used to push the ingredients down against the blades for a smoother blend.
Many people use the blender just to make smoothies, but it is used for so many other things.

Sport blender
The sports blender is also called the To-go blender, as it is suitable for people on the go who would like to have a smoothie with them.
This blender is the best choice for you if you want a smoothie or juice right before training.
You can also simply bring it to work, so you have a juice that can provide you with extra energy when your levels drop during the day.
A sports blender consists of the base and the drinking bottle which is the housing where you blend your contents, allowing you to quickly take it with you after blending everything together.
Not all sports blenders can handle blending hard ingredients like ice cubes and frozen ingredients. So you should be extra careful about this.
It is compact and does not take up much space, making it easy to store and take out again in the morning.
Most drinking bottles are dishwasher safe, so they can quickly be tossed in the dishwasher to be ready for the next morning.
Smoothie blender
A smoothie blender is, as the name implies, a blender specifically for making smoothies.
It is a mix between a regular blender and a sports blender, as it can be as compact as the sports blender, but also versatile like the regular blender.
It is typically more powerful than a sports blender and the housing can accommodate various ingredients; moreover, it can also blend ice cubes and frozen items without issues.
It is suitable for people who love to make smoothies with various fruits and vegetables and enjoy experimenting with different ingredients.
The housing can be available in both jug form and drinking bottle form, so you can take it with you on the go.
The larger smoothie blenders are used in cafes and restaurants, where they can easily blend a smoothie in under 20 seconds.
Food processor
A food processor is also a versatile kitchen tool that can make cooking much easier. It can chop, slice, grate, and whip the different ingredients for you.
It is primarily used in cooking, but it can also be used to make smoothies, though not as effectively as a smoothie blender.
Unlike the other blenders, the housing of the food processor is neither jug-shaped nor a drinking bottle.
The food processor's housing is typically shorter in height and is wider than the two other housings. Its shape makes it difficult to drink directly from, as there is no drinking spout on it.
If the contents become too liquid, they can get stuck out on the side of the housing, where the blades cannot reach and can leave lumps in the smoothie.
Therefore, the food processor is better suited for cooking and can easily handle dried ingredients rather than contents with a lot of liquid, like fruits.
A food processor typically consists of four parts. The base, housing, the blades, and a lid for the housing. Typically, you receive multiple sets of blades that are suitable for different tasks.

7 things to consider if you are going to invest in a blender
It can be difficult to figure out what kind of blender you need, as they look quite similar in terms of appearance, but also functionally.
Prices can vary widely depending on the brand, but not necessarily better just because it is from a more well-known brand.
Therefore, we have compiled a list of 7 things you should consider before you go out and invest in a blender.
#1 The purpose of the blender
The most important thing is to determine for yourself what you will be using the blender for. The fewer things you plan to do with the blender, the more money you can save.
If you plan to make a smoothie in the morning to take to work or similar, you should invest in a sports blender, as it can quickly blend in the drinking bottle.
Do you plan to explore the different flavors and efficiencies from various fruits and vegetables?
Then a smoothie blender would be the obvious choice, as it is more powerful than a sports blender and the accompanying housing is larger and can blend several ingredients at once.
If the blender needs to be used for both smoothies and cooking, you should invest in a regular blender or food processor, as these are more powerful and can handle hot ingredients.
#2 The blender's smart features
Many blenders each have their own smart features, some more practical than others. This point can also help you make the final choice of blenders.
Some of the most common features:
- Pulse feature - The ability to crush ice cubes and frozen fruits.
- Quiet - Blenders generally make noise, which can be reduced with this feature.
- Resistant to hot contents - Not all blenders can handle hot contents like hot soup.
- Speed adjustment - Control the speed at which it blends.
- Detachable blades - easy to clean by hand or in the dishwasher.
These features are the most basic features found in many blenders.
Additionally, there are more advanced features that are only found in certain brands and price ranges.
#3 The capacity of the housing/container
The capacity of the housing determines how many different ingredients you can have in the housing before it becomes full.
With a small housing, for example 100 ml, you will not be able to make much more than small dishes like hummus or pesto. It is not optimal for making smoothies at all.
If you want to make smoothies, we recommend a housing of at least 400-500 ML, which corresponds to a normal drinking bottle.
With a larger housing, you won’t have to worry about how much contents you can put in before it gets full.
It can be nice for you if, for example, you are making a smoothie where you want to put in a lot of ingredients, so you are not limited by a small container.
If you use the blender for cooking, it is especially nice to have a large container that can hold many different ingredients.
Then you won't have to blend the ingredients one by one due to space constraints in the container for the different ingredients.
#4 2-in-1 blender
As described earlier, many blenders can substitute for one another to some degree.
If you need a blender to make smoothies but also want to use it for cooking, a 2-in-1 blender is the perfect choice.
A 2-in-1 blender is a blender where you get two different containers with it. It can be the jug-shaped container and a drinking glass, so you have one for smoothies and one for cooking.
This also gives you the opportunity to make larger quantities at home with the jug.
You can even save more time in the morning by making smoothies in larger amounts in the jug and storing it in the fridge.
Every morning you just have to fill the drinking bottle with the smoothie from the jug and you're good to go, without having to start a new blending session every morning.
However, the smoothie will obviously not be as fresh as freshly made, but it can save you a lot of time that you can prioritize elsewhere.
#5 Blender accessories
A blender is a versatile kitchen tool, precisely because you get so many different accessories with the blender.
It is worth paying a little extra for a blender if you get accompanying equipment like extra drinking bottles, different blades, or additional containers.
With an extra drinking bottle, you can even make two smoothies at once if the accompanying container is large enough to blend two smoothies together.
Then you won’t have to make a smoothie the next day, as you already have one ready in the fridge.
It is often in food processors that you get extra blades.
There may be some blades that are better suited for slicing, chopping, and grating certain ingredients than the regular blades, or not do as well.
Extra containers can help you store the chopped, sliced, or grated ingredients, so you can easily save them right after you prepare them.

#6 The design of the blender
If you use the blender every day to make a morning smoothie, it might be a good idea to keep it out on the kitchen counter.
Then you won’t have to take it out and put it away again after each use. This is where design comes in and can play a crucial role.
There are many different blenders available now, each in their own shape. Some look prettier than others, while others take up less space, etc.
If you don't have much space on the kitchen counter, then you should choose a more compact blender so that it doesn’t take up much room on the kitchen counter or shelf.
The size of a blender does not always relate to how powerful it is. So a smaller blender can very well be just as powerful as a larger blender.
#7 Blender with high wattage
The more watts the blender uses, the more powerful it usually is. So if you are looking for a powerful blender, you can typically measure this based on the blender's watt consumption.
Most of our blenders use around 500 W, which is fine for regular everyday use without costing too much in electricity.
Blenders in a higher price range use about 1,500 W, which can be found in more professional kitchens.
The more watts the blender uses, the more expensive it usually is as well. Therefore, you can save a lot of money by being clear about what you will use the blender for.
If it is solely for smoothies, you can easily get by with a blender with 300 - 400 W. It can blend a variety of ingredients well, even frozen ones.
If you need the blender for cooking, then a blender with at least 600 W is preferable, as they are powerful enough to blend all contents in a 1.5L housing.
The larger the housing, the more watts the motor in the blender needs to run. So even if the housing can hold 1.5L, we recommend blending in smaller portions rather than all at once.
This can give a finer consistency and requires less time at the blender. If you blend everything at once, you might risk that the contents do not circulate properly in the housing.
Which can leave a lumpier result and may take longer if you are aiming for a finer result with the contents.
