DVB-C Receiver

Find your DVB-C receiver or built-in digital TV receivers with us. Here, you will find the boxes that enable receiving digital TV channels on your TV.

What is a DVB-C receiver?

A DVB-C receiver is a box that allows you to receive digital TV signals, even if your television does not have a built-in digital TV tuner.

A DVB-C receiver thus makes it possible to capture and relay the classic pay channels from a provider such as Stofa, Yousee, or Boxer. It also makes it possible to tune into free digital channels. The free digital channels are one of the areas where this receiver truly stands out from the crowd.

Every digital TV box from our website is of the highest quality. We focus on ensuring that your TV signal is sharp, so you can always be satisfied with the picture you get on your screen. Among our selection of different receivers, you can, for example, choose either a normal-sized DVB-C box or a smaller and more compact version. Depending on size and power, there is a slight variation in price and signal speed.

A DVB-C receiver has several different names. Among these are DVB-C receiver and DVB-C box.

How to use your DVB-C receiver

A built-in digital TV receiver is also called a DVB-C receiver. The DVB-C box must be connected to a cable TV socket. You have the option to purchase a digital subscription from a retailer and use a DVB-C box.

Once the DVB-C receiver is connected to your TV, it will start synchronizing with all available channels. Initially, the box syncs with the channels you have access to through your TV provider. It will also sync with the free digital channels - such as DR's channels and Folketinget Live.

One particularly smart feature of a DVB-C tuner is that it also provides access to MPEG-4 and sometimes MPEG-2 channels. However, MPEG-2 channels are extremely rare today, as the MPEG-2 signal was shut down in 2012 for antennas. After connection, the box is ready for use, and you have the option to switch between all the channels you may wish for.

What is the difference between DVB-C, DVB-T, and DVB-S?

The difference between DVB-C, DVB-T, and DVB-S lies primarily in how the different TV tuners are designed to receive the signal.

A built-in digital TV receiver is a general term for the boxes that receive the TV signal from a source and then send it to your TV. Therefore, it is very important that the specific DVB-C receiver is not confused with, among others, DVB-T and DVB-S receivers.

While your DVB-C box is designed to receive the TV signal digitally via cable, the other two models are designed to receive the signal from an antenna (DVB-T) and satellite (DVB-S), respectively. These are two very different ways to receive TV. It is therefore important that you investigate what type of connection you have before investing in a DVB-C tuner or another type of TV tuner.

It can be extremely difficult to predict the future when it comes to electronics. The only thing we can say with any degree of certainty is that development will continue. As it stands now, DVB-C technology will increasingly win over DVB-T and DVB-S, as more and more TV providers shift to cable-based TV.

This is how the DVB-C receiver stands out

One area where a DVB-C receiver stands out in relation to related signal solutions (DVB-T and DVB-S) is in daily use. A large part of the functions that previously belonged to the TV itself are now instead connected to the box.

For example, manual channel changes occur here. Where you previously had to use the accompanying remote control for your TV to change channels, now you instead need to use the remote control for your DVB-C box. As the channels run through the digital cable connection, this is also where they are best controlled.

The advantages of a digital TV connection

There is no doubt that the digital cable connection is the future. Just like with so much else, the TV signal is increasingly becoming digitalized. Watching TV through a cable provider is far easier, also in terms of outages and customer service. But the practical benefits are certainly not the only thing that makes the DVB-C receiver a really sensible choice.

There are many smart extra features with this box. Among other things, you have the option to record programs directly via a USB stick. This allows you to take the USB stick with you and, for example, watch the program on another TV or on a computer.

In addition to the ability to easily record TV on USB sticks, a built-in digital TV receiver also allows you to receive MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 channels. MPEG is a term for the most commonly applicable standards for audio and video signals regarding TV viewing.

The MPEG-4 variant is one of the newest and most advanced of these techniques and thus covers a TV signal of the highest possible quality.

With all our DVB-C receivers, it is possible to display channels via MPEG-4. Should you be in the unique situation that your provider still offers channels with MPEG-2, it is also possible to find a digital box that gives you access to these.

DVB-C receiver for digital TV - See here!

DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) is a consortium of the world's leading digital TV and technology companies. This includes manufacturers, software developers, network operators, and TV stations. They have made a common commitment to create a video standard that can be used for transmitting digital TV via cable networks.

With a digital TV box, you can receive all the channels included in your TV package. You can also watch High Definition TV on your cable TV. In short, this means that with a DVB-C receiver, you can use your cable TV to watch digital television. In this way, you do not need to buy a new television because digital TV signal has come.

So far, primarily providers such as Yousee and Stofa have broadcast digital TV via the cable network. Today, there is a large market and supply of various products if you use one with a DVB-C receiver.

Advantages of a DVB-C box

The advantages of using a DVB-C box and watching digital cable TV are many. Analog channels take up more space in the broadcast network and do not have as high image and sound quality as digital TV. Therefore, there is room for more channels in the broadcast network if you watch digital TV through a DVB-C receiver instead.

The quality also increases from normal analog quality to crystal-clear images in High Definition. If you do not have a flat-screen TV with a built-in digital TV box, or you have an older tube TV, there is still a possibility that you can watch digital TV.

With a DVB-C receiver, you can receive the same channels as if you had cable TV or a new flat-screen TV. Therefore, you do not have to worry about whether your TV meets modern standards for digital signals or cable TV. This is a problem that a DVB-C tuner can quickly solve for you. You can just sit back and watch exactly the channels and programs you wish to.

From cable TV to digital antenna TV

When you have cable TV, it is often because you subscribe to one or more TV packages associated with the cable network. With cable TV, the television signal was physically transmitted into the television in the living room for the first time.

Today, cable systems are primarily what is called drop cable systems, where a cable runs out to each apartment in a complex that has cable TV. Before 1989, all apartments in the building shared the same line. Before that, people relied on over-the-air TV signals via indoor antennas.

The great advantage of introducing cable TV was that people no longer had to experience interference on the antenna, which constantly had to be adjusted. Additionally, the introduction of cable TV meant that consumers were offered a multitude of channels that they previously did not have access to. That was for many years the triumph of cable TV until it shifted to digital antenna TV.

DVB-C receiver is an easy and economical solution

A DVB-C receiver makes everyday life a bit nicer. It is always great when a simple technology can improve the television experience both audibly and visually. It only gets better as the supply of channels and programs also booms, giving you many more options. Additionally, it is more economically feasible to get a DVB-C receiver than to buy a brand new digital flat-screen TV.

Our customers love high quality, and high quality is exactly what you achieve with both cable and digital TV. Fortunately, the old-fashioned indoor antennas with over-the-air signals are just history, so today you can easily and conveniently install all your channels if you watch cable or digital TV. Usually, it just requires that you search for the channels on your DVB-C receiver, either by looking for a specific frequency or by entering a network ID.

DVB-C box vs. built-in DVB-C tuner

If you have a new flat-screen TV, you are likely to have a TV where the DVB-C tuner is built into the television. In that case, you do not need a DVB-C box. However, if you do not want to spend several thousand kroner to get a built-in DVB-C tuner, a DVB-C receiver is a good and extremely cost-effective alternative.

But besides the price, there are actually other differences where you get more features with a DVB-C box that may not necessarily be available in a TV with an integrated DVB-C tuner. Among these is the recording function, where the DVB-C box provides an easy recording option. You just need to plug a USB stick into the box, and you are ready to record and take your recordings with you. Your DVB-C receiver thus functions as both a DVB-C tuner and a hard drive recorder.

This function alone makes the DVB-C receiver almost worth buying when compared to new flat-screen televisions or hard drive recorders.

HDMI or scart?

Although most DVB-C receivers and older flat-screen televisions have both HDMI and scart connections, we recommend that you use an HDMI cable to connect your DVB-C receiver to your television.

We recommend this because the HDMI cable is designed specifically for digital TV and overall provides both stronger images and better sound than what you would experience with a scart cable. So if you can choose, we recommend that you connect your DVB-C box to your television with an HDMI cable.
