Create cozy moments with a fondue
A fondue can be the centerpiece of a cozy evening, shared with closest family members or friends. Besides just eating together, you also prepare the food in a communal pot.
Fondue originates from Switzerland and is a heated pot, most often with a cheese mix, where various accompaniments are dipped in, such as bread and all kinds of meat, etc.
At avXperten, we have a large selection of kitchen tools that can make cooking more entertaining. We have, for example, frying pans, cookers, deep fryers and pancake makers.
5 Reasons to buy a fondue
Even if you're not into cheese, a fondue can still offer plenty. Cheese fondue is the most popular abroad, but at home, we are probably bigger fans of chocolate fondue.
A fondue can set the stage for several social evenings, where dining is a little different than what one is used to.
#1 Create cozy memories
If you want to invite your friends or family to something delicious, a fondue is one of the best ways to have a cozy evening with a bit to eat and some good wine.
It doesn't necessarily have to be dinner. You can easily make it for lunch or just as a late-night snack or evening treat.
By preparing the food in the fondue, it leads to many good conversations and a lot of tasty small dishes.
#2 Make different types of fondue
Although the fondue is a traditionally Swiss dish, you can still adapt it to your own taste.
If you're not particularly into cheese, there are still many other ways to enjoy a fondue.
Below is a list of the most common fondues around the world.
The classic fondues:
- Cheese fondue

#3 Make your own fondue
With the above fondues, there is a lot to choose from, but if you still don’t find it very interesting, you can easily make your own fondue.
There are no limits to what a fondue can consist of, so you can easily experiment with a fondue and include whatever you like, as long as there is a base in the fondue.
You can easily just have soup with meat and dumplings in the fondue, along with some bread, if that is what you want to use a fondue for.
#4 It's easy to prepare
If you can't think of what to make for dinner, then the fondue is easy to set up.
All it requires is just a base in the fondue and something for dipping. It could also just be leftovers of ingredients that you've used over the week.
The accompaniments for the fondue don't require much preparation, so it can also be a completely meat-free dish if you don’t want to spend time preparing meat.
When it comes to cleaning, it's quite easy to clean a fondue. Most fondues can withstand washing in a dishwasher. If you have one in cast iron, you should wash it by hand and avoid soaking.
#5 A variety of accompaniments for fondue
At home, you get bread with soup, but in Switzerland, it's quite common to get bread with fondue. No matter what type of fondue, you can expect to get some bread with it.
Baking is an essential part of the Swiss cuisine, as it has previously been under French rule and therefore has also been influenced by French baking.
If you're not into bread, fortunately, there are many other items you can dip in the fondue, such as:
- Various meats
- Vegetables
- Root vegetables
- Fruits
- Various types of mushrooms
- Sweets
