9 things you should look for when choosing a TV mount
Choosing the right TV mount is not always easy for everyone.
There are many considerations to take into account before selecting the perfect TV mount for your needs.
Below, we have gathered a number of things you should consider before choosing your new TV mount/wall bracket
#1 - The correct size for your wall bracket
The first, and probably the most important, is of course to choose a TV mount that actually fits your television.
At the top of this page, you can filter the sizes of our TV mounts, which are listed in inches.
If you have a large television of 80 inches or more, you should always aim for a TV mount that can handle this weight, or even more.
It's a good idea to always aim slightly above the number of inches your television is, and for example, you can easily choose a TV mount that fits up to 100 inches, even if your television is only 80 inches.

#8 - The correct VESA measurements
When you want to ensure that a given TV mount fits your television, you use something called the VESA standard.
This standard is simply the dimensions on the back of your TV, that is, the screw holes themselves.
These are measured in length and width, and in this way, you get a VESA measurement that you need when choosing a TV mount:
- The rule of thumb is that you should measure the distance between the screw holes on the back of your television. This determines what size of wall bracket you need to acquire.
- If there are, for example, 600 millimeters in width between the two screws and 400 millimeters in height, you should look for a wall bracket that has VESA measurements of 600x400.
Therefore, you measure not the television, but the screw holes on the back of the television. It is these that the wall bracket will be attached to.
However, be aware that the size designation is only a guideline, so remember to measure based on the four mounting holes on the back of the television.
If you have an older wall bracket that is not designed according to the VESA standard, and the mounting holes do not fit, there is actually help to be had.
You can use a VESA adapter, so you don't have to make additional holes in the wall.
Remember: Knowing your VESA measurements is incredibly important, as these measurements determine whether a wall bracket actually fits your television without a VESA adapter.
#9 - Wall brackets for PC monitors
In addition to televisions, a wall bracket can also be used for PC monitors, for those who want a bit more space on their desk.
Here, you often choose one of the smaller sizes, as computer screens are often a bit smaller than those used for televisions.
Another solution that many prefer is a desk mount designed specifically for PC monitors.

Here’s how to hang your wall bracket up correctly
Before you start mounting your wall bracket for your television, it is important that you are 100% sure of exactly where your television should hang.
A smart trick to do this is actually to use the box your television arrived in.
You can use it to roughly see how much space your television takes by cutting out a profile from the box that fits the size of the television.
This piece of cardboard can be held up against the wall, and possibly glued on to see if it fits perfectly.
When you believe you have found the right position, simply mark it, and now you can get started with mounting your TV bracket and your television afterward.

How to hang wall brackets on drywall
A drywall is undoubtedly where you need to be the most attentive when hanging something on it.
Drywalls are often significantly weaker than other types of walls, so it is incredibly important to mount your TV mount correctly on this type of wall.
This requires specific drywall plugs and possibly an additional support plate if you need to hang a very large television up.
Generally, we wouldn't recommend hanging a large TV mount and television on drywall, as you can never be 100% sure that it can hold.
Stick to slightly smaller sizes if you want to hang a TV mount on a drywall.
How to hang wall brackets on concrete or masonry walls
The type of wall most people will likely hang their TV mounts on is a concrete or masonry wall.
Here, the procedure is very much the same, as both require strong drill bits and rawplugs.
It is necessary to acquire a strong masonry drill/bit so that you can drill through the hard material.
- Start by measuring to drill the correct holes.
- Carefully drill these holes with the strong masonry drill.
- Then insert rawplugs that ensure the optimal stability for your TV mount.
- Afterward, you can secure your TV mount by screwing the screws into your rawplugs.
- Finally, hang your TV on the wall bracket, and it is now ready for use.
How to hang TV mounts on wooden walls
A wooden wall is typically what you would hang your television on in summer houses.
Again, this is a material that is not as robust as bricks or concrete, so you need to be a bit more cautious.
It is important that the thickness of the wooden wall is optimal and not too thin, as it can often be in older summer houses.
Furthermore, the process is actually the same as with concrete or masonry when you need to hang the bracket up.
