Zigbee Smart Home

Smart Home has become so well introduced in Danish homes that it is no longer such a new term.

More and more things are being made compatible with Smart Home and can communicate with the other Smart Home devices in the home.

In this category, you will find Smart Home products from the brand Zigbee, where you can get Smart Home sensors, remotes and thermostats.

Additionally, we have a lot of other Smart Home products on this page, such as Lighting, water control and ceiling lamps.

How to connect Zigbee

The gateway must first and foremost be plugged into a socket before it can be connected to the home's Wi-Fi. Without a gateway, you will not be able to control the devices.

Once it is powered, it should be connected to the home network. This can be done through the Nedis SmartLife app, which will guide you through the installation.

When the gateway is connected to the home's Wi-Fi, you will be able to connect other Smart Home devices that are compatible with Zigbee, in addition to their own devices.

How does Zigbee work?

Once Zigbee is connected to Wi-Fi, it acts as a control center, communicating with the other Smart Home devices in the home.

Zigbee operates on the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol, over a 2.4 GHz network, which is also the network most devices in the home are on when connected to Wi-Fi.

When they operate on the 2.4 GHz network, the devices can communicate and send and receive data to each other through the gateway.

Zigbee devices create their own mesh network, so they are not dependent on the router.

This allows them to send internet from device to device and ensure connection from the devices to your smartphone.

5 Good reasons to invest in Zigbee Smart Home

If you have considered investing in Smart Home for your home but are still unsure if it is right for you, here are a few points on why you should invest in it.

#1 Smart lighting to wake you up in the morning

With Smart Home lighting, you can, for example, set the light to turn on every morning at a specific time, so you don't wake up in complete darkness and struggle to get up.

You can usually also adjust the brightness of the light, so you can wake up to a more yellowish light, which is easier on the eyes than direct white and bright light.

The light will gradually turn on like a gentle sunrise so that it doesn't shock you, unlike what happens when the light suddenly turns on while you are sleeping soundly.

The smart lighting in the morning can help set the tone for a good and calm morning, so that you do not feel stressed right from the start of the day.

#2 Turn your devices on and off directly from your smartphone

One of the most popular areas within Smart Home is undoubtedly lighting. It was also the first thing presented regarding Smart Home.

With Smart Home lighting, you can control the lights in your home via an app or remote, as long as the bulbs are compatible with Smart Home.

This is especially convenient in winter when it is dark in the morning and you have a bit of a distance to the socket.

Turn on the light directly from your smartphone so you don't have to walk in the dark and feel along the wall to find the switch.

If you're in a hurry and on your way out the door but forgot to turn off the light, you can easily do it without having to stop, take off your shoes and run back in to turn it off.

With a few clicks in the app, you can quickly and easily switch off the light without having to physically touch the sockets. Another alternative to Zigbee is Z-Wave, which works similarly to Zigbee.

#3 Save money with Smart Home

Zigbee products can actually help you save money on various bills. They can also help give you a better overview of heating consumption with Smart Home thermostats.

With the Zigbee thermostat, you can control the temperature on the radiator to which the thermostat is mounted. Additionally, you can also see how many degrees it is set to on the thermostat.

Lower the heat when you are not home and raise it again when you are on your way home. This way, you can save a little on your heating bill.

#4 Make your daily life more automated

One of the smartest things about Smart Home is the ability to communicate with other devices across the board.

By automating more of your daily life, you will be able to save a lot of time that can be spent on family and so on.

Once you see what Smart Home can do for you automatically, you will definitely try to automate more things in the home.

Here are a few examples of what you can automate via Smart Home

  • Smart Home Lighting + motion sensor - With this combination, you can set the light to turn on automatically if the sensor detects movement nearby.
  • Smart Home thermostat + door/window sensor - If you have both, you can actually set the thermostat to turn off if it detects that the sensor on the window is open.
  • Smart Home socket - Automate the socket to turn off after a certain time so it doesn't remain on standby. Even if it stays on standby, it still uses energy.

#5 Smart Home sensors keep an eye on your home

With Zigbee sensors, you can safely leave your home without having to worry about burglary, etc.

We have a lot of different sensors on this page that you can install in your home for extra security when you are out.

With door/window sensors, you can mount them on the door or windows so they will notify you if someone opens them while you are not home.

They can also notify you if you forgot to close them after airing out.
