Antenna Wall Sockets

Antenna socket, all in antenna sockets

A good antenna socket is close to being an absolute necessity in all modern households in today's Denmark if you want to have radio and TV in your home.

The antenna socket is the termination of the system of cables that bring antenna signals into the desired room in the house. Through the antenna socket, electronic devices, such as TVs and radios, can be connected to the antenna - and with the right antenna socket, even to the satellite.

The antenna socket thus functions as a form of termination for the cable run and as the entry point where the antenna cable from the TV can be inserted, so you hopefully get a clear picture on the screen. An antenna outlet is mounted on the wall just like a normal socket and thus functions as a TV socket.

Antenna sockets are available in a wide variety of designs and versions that fit different homes and various electronic devices. All the sockets share the common feature that, in their basic form, they closely resemble a socket.

The antenna sockets consist of a plastic plate, often white, that is mounted on the wall. In some cases, the products are also available in a flush-mounted version, where the socket is embedded within the wall instead of outside, which is more commonly seen. In addition to the antenna sockets, general wall sockets are also available for example .

Why you should invest in an antenna socket

An antenna is an effective tool for receiving digital TV and radio signals in your private home. An antenna has advantages over a satellite dish because it is typically cheaper and not tied to a specific subscription to various TV channels.

This is why many choose to use the antenna or antenna socket when watching channels on their TV, where they purchase a TV package through a cable TV provider like YouSee, Stofa, or similar.

If you are one of the viewers who receive your TV signal from a TV provider, you will definitely need an antenna socket. Without an antenna socket, you have no way to organize your cables and wires.

An antenna socket can typically be mounted on the wall next to or behind your television. In this way, it is discreetly placed and easily accessible for connection and installation.

This placement of your antenna socket also has the advantage that you can use shorter antenna cables, thereby reducing the likelihood that your TV signal is affected, which is a risk with longer antenna cables.

Instead of ugly and unsafe cables sticking directly out of the wall, potentially posing a health risk due to the danger of electric shock, you have a reliable antenna outlet that ensures a strong and stable signal while guaranteeing high safety.

Once the antenna socket is set up, it’s lightning-fast to connect the TV to the signal from the antenna running through the wall and out of the socket. Here, you simply need to connect the TV to the socket using your antenna cable, which you plug into the correct antenna socket.

Two types of sockets

Within antenna sockets, there are generally two different variants. The two variants are and .

The real difference between the two types of antenna sockets lies in the name. Here, it’s important to note that they play different roles in the connection circuit. Therefore, it is not irrelevant which socket you choose.

Loop socket

A loop socket is an older model of antenna socket that is not seen in use as often anymore. Today, the end socket is more commonly used as it is more straightforward.

The loop socket allows for a slightly more advanced technique where the connection between the antenna and the television does not consist of two interrupted cables, but rather one connection that loops together inside the antenna socket.

End socket

An end socket, on the other hand, is an antenna socket that connects two separate connections – namely the signal from the antenna cable and the signal from the TV cable.

When you need to choose an antenna socket

When choosing a new antenna socket, you should be very aware of whether you need an end model or a loop model.

If you are setting up an entirely new antenna connection, we would typically recommend that you use an end socket. The end socket is indeed easier and faster to set up.

If you already have a set-up antenna system of a slightly older date, it may very well be necessary for you to use a loop socket when replacing.

If you intend to use an end socket as your antenna socket, it may involve changing and rearranging the cables, which can be a somewhat larger and more extensive process.

The many possibilities of the antenna socket

It is not only TV and antenna signals that an antenna socket can support today. Depending on which model you choose, you can also create connections for radio, satellite, data, and HDMI.

Satellite is another tool through which you can achieve TV connection. A satellite works via a satellite dish. Data refers to access to the internet, while radio sockets obviously provide connection to this piece of electronics.

When you need to choose an antenna socket, you can therefore either choose a very simple solution exclusively with antenna sockets, or you can opt to combine several functions under one and the same antenna socket.

Before you choose which model you want to invest in, we recommend that you thoroughly consider your situation and your options. Knowing your needs makes it much easier to choose the right product.

You should consider what type of TV signal you want, whether you wish for other types of connections, and whether the antenna socket should be mounted in the wall or outside. Also, remember that the antenna socket only supports the cables that are already in the wall. Regardless of which model you prefer, we have the right solution for you.

Unsure about which signals you can extract via your antenna socket?

If you are unsure about which signals you can extract via your antenna socket, we recommend that you contact your TV and internet provider, where you can get explained which signals you can extract with an antenna socket.

Remember to pay attention to the difference between loop socket and end socket before purchasing an antenna socket. Below you will find our wide selection of antenna sockets, which definitely includes the one you are missing.

Satellite socket and multimedia socket

We briefly mentioned above that you can also get antenna sockets that can provide connections to satellite and data. The two antenna sockets differ slightly from each other and the other antenna sockets, so we would like to provide you with some additional information about them.

Satellite socket

differs from the other variations of antenna sockets in that this type of socket typically has up to four connection options.

Here, the satellite socket is used in the same way as the end socket if you receive your TV signal from a satellite dish.

Multimedia socket

is used if you receive TV and internet from a provider such as YouSee or Stofa. The multimedia socket typically comes with three connection options.

In the multimedia socket, the antenna signal and internet signal are split, so one goes to the antenna signal and one to your internet modem.

Manufacturers of antenna sockets

Our selection of antenna sockets comes from several manufacturers. Common to the manufacturers from whom we sell antenna sockets is that they all have a good reputation. They are known for producing quality and being up to date. Therefore, you can be completely sure to get a modern, high-quality antenna socket if you choose to invest in one from us.

We have antenna sockets and socket accessories from strong manufacturers such as Danish Lemvigh-Müller, Triax, Wentronic, and Nedis. See which manufacturers have provided the individual solutions under the various antenna socket categories.

Different designs and series

Our antenna sockets come - in addition to the various antenna socket categories - also in different designs such as Opus and Fuga, which are among the most commonly used when it comes to antenna sockets.

You thus have the option to choose a socket with a design that fits best into your home.

Get spare parts for your antenna socket

In a home with playful children, you might find yourself needing to replace parts of your antenna socket if it gets damaged. A damaged antenna socket does not mean that you need to invest in a new antenna socket.

Our selection of means that you can simply replace the damaged or outdated part, allowing you to easily get an antenna socket that once again provides the desired connections for the antenna cables.

Get more out of your antenna socket

If you choose a multimedia socket instead of a classic end socket or loop socket, you are already on your way to using your antenna socket for more than just antenna outputs.

You can actually get even more out of your antenna socket if you connect a . The antenna splitter allows you to split the antenna signal from the antenna socket so that you can get signals from the same antenna socket on up to eight TVs.

However, we recommend that you consider which solution will be the best for you if you need an antenna signal for multiple screens.

If the distance becomes too great between the individual screens and rooms, we recommend that you instead install multiple antenna sockets rather than using antenna splitters or . This is because the signal becomes weaker and worse the farther it has to travel.

How to install your antenna socket

If you are handy or just not equipped with ten thumbs, you can install your antenna socket in your home yourself. It’s really not that difficult!

If you choose to take on the task of installing your antenna socket yourself, you should do the following:

1) Find out where in the house or room the antenna socket should be installed

Before you start installing your antenna socket, we recommend that you first find the best place to install it.

We recommend that you install the antenna socket as close to your TV as possible. Preferably in a spot where it is shielded, so it is not exposed to potential damage.

The distance between the antenna socket and your TV matters for several reasons. A short distance between the antenna socket and your TV means both the antenna socket and the antenna cable will be less exposed to damage and noise in relation to the signal.

The short distance itself also enhances the strength of the signal, as antenna cables are recommended to be as short as possible. It is recommended that your antenna cable is at most 10 meters long.

2) Ensure correct cable routing

Before you start installing your antenna socket yourself, you need to ensure that an antenna cable is run from the distributor in the home’s conduit installation to the wall socket - that is, your antenna socket. This is a requirement for you to be able to install your antenna socket yourself.

To pull the cables from the conduit installation in the home, we recommend that you have a professional (electrician) do this, especially if you do not have previous experience with it.

3) Strip the cable

When stripping your cable, we recommend that you use specialized tools, especially if you do not have previous experience with it, as this reduces the likelihood of damaging the cable and thereby risking that new cables need to be pulled.

4) Then remove the front part from your antenna socket

Once you have stripped your cable, you are now ready to begin the actual installation of the cable in the antenna socket. When the cover is removed, you can start to mount the cable to your antenna socket.

You do this by mounting the cable in the RF-tight socket. Remember that both the inner conductor and the shield must have good contact.

5) Install the antenna socket on the wall

Once your cable is mounted in the RF-tight socket, you are now ready to mount the actual socket on the wall. Remember that you should mount it so that it is secure and not at risk of being damaged.

6) Reattach the front panel to the antenna socket

Once the actual socket is mounted on the wall, you just need to finish the installation. You do this by mounting the cover. Once you have done that, you have now installed your antenna socket yourself.

Then you can plug your antenna cable into the antenna socket and into the TV, after which you are ready to watch television.
